Keep going WallyG, I'll send a PM to try to help.
Oh dear Kezza, your friends show themselves to be what most of have been like at sometime or another, and that is scared of the fear of losing the smokes. They're also possibly secretly hoping you'll fail so they don't feel too guilty about your achievements and them still not being able to quit themselves. I hope they'll get to where you are soon as, the fear of quitting and missing fags is nothing to the fear that smoking-related illnesses bring!!! Maybe you'll turn out to be the shining example they've been looking to follow, I certainly hope so!
Sounds as though you funkymonkey and Kezza are at that awkward stage which affects many of us. After all the time we smoke for the nicotine plays havoc with our minds and in a sense, is still able to even though it's long since all left your body. It's what we refer to as it still messing with our heads. So in actual fact it's that bit of a habit that suddenly comes back just to try to get us to go back to the way we were. Focus hard on other things, more beautiful things which take the eye and the mind away from anything else. I always think that going through photo albums is a good distraction or putting yourself into a hobby that you've always wanted to have a go at.
Keep focused and don't allow thoughts of anything related to 'you know what' into your head, it has NO right to do so now, and you won't let it! Both of you will soon find it passes and you can happily get one with your healthy life undisturbed, so long as YOU remain boss! Exercise hard to de-stress, that always helps. Congratulations on quitting, both if you, your windy hubby too Kezza!!! I was glad to see you gave vent to your feelings earlier, good for you that's what we're here for.
magicgirl68 what you're experiencing can be described as a type of craving but it isn't as the nicotine has left your body, but now and then we get feelings of something missing and if you stop to analyse it, you can always pinpoint it to be the lack of a ciggie. However, I know from old that the feeling so very soon goes, so long as you focus on something else. You'll soon find, that without you even realising it, it's gone! You can't smole for all those years and it not leave little footprints of info floating about and this is one of those times. A bit like us deleting something from our PCs, very often it leaves 'footprints' somewhere or other, that is what you're talking about. You WILL get through it, I promise you! Excellent news that you're still coping well!!! Keep it ip!
Well done Heidi and go for the swimming as it's marvellous exercise and will clear your lungs even sooner!!
Good for you with finding such great therapy Katie!! It's a great one as it's also a way of cleansing your home and yourself at the same time. Keep at it!
What a way you've all come so far, and the therapies you're all finding are such good ones, well done all! BTW! How about reverting to putting the amount of time conquered so far as well as the method used to quit on your "title bars" of daily posts everyone please. It helps you all and it also helps all other members. Good luck all.

Kezzae the constipation thingy does resolve itself quite quickly.
I am still going strong. It may well be 12/13 weeks today - I honestly don't know. I really think it was joining this thread that gave me the ongoing support and determination.

Thanks Larmy, Il let hubby know, he read what I posted lastnight and after he called me a cow etc lol, we had a good laugh about it, men don't half get embarrassed about bodily functions............
Thankyou Sue for your advice, I agree with what you are saying, I was having a really bad day yesterday and everything got on top of me. This thread is helping me so much, it makes me feel like Im not going through it alone and it also gives me something to focus on. I re -read it when I feel a 'wobble' coming on and re-read my own posts aswell to remind myself how far Ive come.
Well Im feeling sooooo much better today but Ive got this urge Just to tip the house out and de-clutter everything, I was up bright and early shredding old paperwork, the garden is full of binbags ready to go to the tip. I think hubby is feeling the same as he came home from work and started tipping his shed out, that he has been saying he was going to do for about 2years!! So I think the weekend will be spent going back and forth to the tip and we'll have a clutter free house!
Hope you all have a good day!!Quit Day - 8th July 2009.0 -

Hi everyone, good to hear you're all sounding so positive and each of you determined to quit. This time next year you'll feel a pride you've never felt before! You'll get that feeling a lot sooner than that of course, but the first day, first week, first month and THEN.....that first year is phenomenal!!!! :j
Sorry Kezza, I forgot to answer the constipation but last night....thinking about your hubby's wind put me off my stroke - that's what it was!  Anyway, as larmy says it is a very natural thing for some of us, but as with everything else, it will come right soon enough.
Don't you worry about always needing to watch yourself Rossy, smoking isn't like alcohol as the latter is an illness. You just need to get through the worst stages of quitting and then it goes on getting better and better and you begin feeling that everything about life is so much better, far sweeter - and you don't have all those unnecessary fears!
Keep strong girls, then, just as you've all already displayed, it gets much better and yes, you do get past the less easy bits. Keep as fit as you can whilst quitting and you'll find it's all far quicker and easier. Be happy!

I quit today (thank god it's nearly midnight lol) and I seem to be doing okay but get cravings now and then. I've got sweets to suck on and they're helping but I'd like to have alternatives. Any suggestions?0

Congratulations on taking that first vital step kryssyn!!! Use sweets by all means, but to help avoid putting on weight try sour sweets so they're not quite so tempting...addictive too! As you'll see in the PM, water is great for you, so are apples, carrots, celery and any sort of fruit. Even shredded cabbage is great to have in the fridge along with celery sticks and peeled carrots. Cleaning your teeth fairly regularly is a good tip, not too hard though or you'll make the gums sore.
Another thing that helps a lot is coming here and typing out your feelings, good or bad, it doesn't matter just feel free to let loose it's a good place to rant - or boast! Keep exercising and you'll find that helps no end, and it keeps you feeling great....and so does the fact of another 'however long' without a dreaded stick!
Stay strong at all times and sniff smokers now and then, you'll soon find they STINK summat awful!!! All the very best, and if you need to, pop into your local Drs and ask to see the smoking cessation Nurse or your Dr. They'll be so pleased for you!
