It's great that you are thinking that way mazza. Usually people will use any excuse in the book not to stop at a certain time and you are doing the opposite. It's a very good sign!
I really do know that smoking partly made me very lazy. Not on a conscious level, but it did. Well, I'm going to blame it for all ills now - why not? It was never of any benefit whatsoever (not even a 'high' - I was told the initial 'high' you felt on lighting up was the carbon monoxide and not the nicotine - yak!).
I'm spurred on to diet and exercise because I'm feeling good about myself - I was talking to a colleague yesterday who is following weightwatchers and fed up of her size. She said she started putting on weight when she stopped smoking. I asked her when that was - she said 6 years ago. :rotfl: Sorry, I says - you really can't blame smoking!
Still, I do not wish to be like her - I wish to blame the cigs for everything, not stopping the cigs!0 -
I know from experience how much harder it is to do it when people around you are smoking Mazza as well. That's always been how I ended up starting again, hubby was smoking and in the end temptation got too great, plus smoking inside pubs.
He gave up 3 months ago and I think it's because I have no reminders around thats why I've found it so easy this time.
Plus I have done this in a time of serious family stress and also a bereavement, so I know anything stressy isn't going to make me want to reach for a fag.
Just keep on having a daily fight with your head and try not to let the nicotine monster win, cos he's not really in there anymore.
My friend has just started having those B12 injections, she had hardly any naturally, do they make you feel loads better?Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

Hi Shelly, and to answer your question: Yes it makes a great difference. My hubby has pernicious anaemia because of him having no natural absorption of B12 and the injections have made such an amazing difference, especially to him having been so lethargic before which just wasn't him at all. He really lives life fully now. Good luck for your friend, I hope she soon feels a vast improvement, you too Mazza.

Congratulations on such a great achievement little lily!!! 5 months is a brilliant amount of time to be free from all the bad of it, you've done yourself (the family too if they only knew it!) a power of good. So much to be proud of! :T
She's definately right about us all feeling like them less and less as time goes on everyone, co please convince yourself of the fact they you WILL overcome that part and it'll come to you so naturally. So for now, take it one day at a time and don't look ahead for fears and worries that aren't going to happen!
You're all doing so well, though all the best for you mazza! You're right SandC, smoking did make the majority of us so lazy as, if we admit it, we'd happily sit and smoke whenever the mood took us. Renewed energy now to get the weight off!!
Good luck all, you've so much to be proud of!!! :T

Well doctor reckons I should go back to the smoking cessation group (6 weeks of that was over) and get their advice again, so will call them later. My (x) OH coming round to get some more of his stuff today, that's always stressful. Heyho it's another day.
I am starting to feel lazy now, but the first couple of weeks when I stopped smoking i was totally wired. Don't know if it was the B12 tablets i was put on or the stress at home. Was doing the work of 2 ppl that my boss was joking about me spiking everyone else's coffee with my tablets. Spending so much energy that I lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. Then when i seen the weight loss i made the decision to go with it, and have now lost over 3 stones. Now it's coming off sensibly, however, recently I haven't been eating as much fruit and sneaking a bag of crisps (or a couple:o) so the lack of energy could be to do with that too.
So, today, back to fruit fruit fruit and throwing the crisps out the window! Let's see if I can get these energy levels back up again4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
I think that stuff is all part and parcel of life really mazza - not the smoking.
But hey, guess what? My boss just came in my office and said 'I've done 10 days now!'.
He told me he has also stopped smoking, inspired by me as he noticed I hadn't been going outside to the smoking area around week 4. He says he's doing fine and just using gum (funny guy though - he was chewing NRT gum while still smoking as well!).
I am very, very chuffed that me stopping has inspired someone else!:T0 -

Just wanted to post a little congratulations to myself (I was a secret smoker so my family can't congratulate me because they didn't know I smoked!)

Hi Lily - so pleased for you. I'm just over the five months as well and remember your early posts. You have done so well!
Also wanted to say that I could understand what Graeme was getting at. Having given up a couple of times before I know that this time there can never ever be an experimental puff 'to see how horrible it is'. It's just that barstwrd Nick, trying to catch me again.
Best of luck everybody.
Good to see you Sue :A0 -
SandC it most certainly is part of life, just hard to deal with life without the crutch I've been using for the past 20 odd years. I will get there though, it won't beat me!!!!
Called smoking cessation clinic today, and have to go round tonight before their session and have a chat with them. Just think I need something to get through it, even if it's just the support.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
OH now recovered from illness thank god. Had to call the emergency doctor out on Sunday he was so poorly, felt so bloody helpless and I wasn't helping matters as I kept getting so upset
Due to go away to the Lakes on Wednesday (comp.win). I was really looking forward to it, but never been away feeling so fat and bloated and having to buy some "emergency" size 16/18 gear  As of last night it appears we have a major plumbing problem, so wondering if we'll actually get away after all now.
It's strange when life throws these things at you and you automatically think "I could really do with a ciggie". In actual fact, I have no need for one any more. Yes, I'd sometimes like one but, if I really think about it, the trigger points just aren't there a lot of the time any more. The one time I do really miss a smoke is with a drink, but I rarely drink, so not too much of a problem.
Mazza : good luck at the smoking cessation clinic later and let us know how you get on.
SandC : congrats. on being such an inspiration to your boss ... what a great feeling!
Sue : great to have you back and glad you're OK.
Well done all

Just got back, have to start with a new group next week at smoking cessation. If I do ok off the smokes this week they will be happy to give me support. If I don't do ok this week, they will be happy to give me NRT. They can't give me NRT atm because it they like you to have a week being Champix free before prescribing it. So either way, it's a win win situation. Still going to get the support either way. The girls were great and very understanding.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
