Thanks for everyone'e kind words and hugs today. I have read all of the posts and it is nice to see happiness here again.
I feel much better now after taking the afternoon off work and not losing the plot there. Took the mutley for a long walk in the open air to clear my mind and I feel much calmer as a result and mind a bit calmer too. Glad of the rest and break to achieve this.
Will check in from time to time to see how you are all doing - you all look like it's going really great.
Congrats to barshambility (?spelling) on the reduction plan working, only another 7 units to go to reach the recommended weekly limits, then comes the AF days to fit in and you're nearly there.
Thanks to Miamoo also for your concern and kind words. I am feeling better and more positive nowfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Hi I would like to join the challenge.
I have been drinking every night for a number of years now, and really want to STOP. I seem to be drinking more and more these days, spirits and wine and I can relate to a lot things others have mentioned here, red eyes, feeling down, depressed, etc.
I gave up smoking 2 months ago and think that this may have led to me drinking even more than I was before. I also hide the amount I drink from my OH.
I am worried that I won't be able to sleep tonight, so can anyone give me some tips on this.
I will try and keep myself busy by doing lots of spring cleaning.
Thanks everyone.
Try to do some aerobic exercise, something that gets your heart going up to 120 beats per minute plus. No need to join an expensive gym, you could try half an hours brisk walk (or clean very aggressivley!)0 -
AFD Monday, so that't 9 in a row for me.0

I went to see Siouxsie & the Banshees (one for MP & Lurkio there...) at Uni (not many bands made it to Swansea) & she went off in a huff cos the audience kept gobbing all over her. In retrospect I can kind of see her point. Delightful days. The other "top bands" we had were Shakin Stevens (he is after all from Cardiff) & Gary Glitter!! Oh dear.
Guys I am really hanging on to my womo clause by my fingernails tonight I've had several "oh eff it" moments since leaving work....(wait for it, WB downer post on its way)..well, it's my dad's funeral tomorrow, it's thanks to you lot that I've had any AFDs at all this month I sure wouldn't have bothered trying if not for the AFJ challenge. I'm clinging to the thought that he'd expect me to be drinking a toast to him tomorrow - as indeed I will be - but would not approve of me having much tonight esp as have a fair drive to get there. I don't know why I want a drink so much....mind-numbing I spose. Good job no white wine in the house would definitely have caved.
I feel v uptight ...need to relax. I could eat DD's chocolate santa? (too mean)...the only choc that's mine is a ....liqueur. Grand Marnier too, my favourite. I haven't eaten it in case it triggers a red wine binge! As a sort of act of defiance I put salt on my veg at dinner - pretty dumb as I've never used salt in my life, just wanted something bad for me. WB logic.
Oh dear sorry to ramble on, & on, like an Ariston (those 80s, eh?). Better go & prod the fire, or something else aggressive0 -
Winebox really sorry about your dad, you have done amazingly well, and you can get through tonight, like you said think about getting there safely tomorrow.
Fedup lovely to hear from you:D My mut hasn't been out today, she is driving me mad! She's a doberman so if she isn't happy, we know about it:rotfl:£100 - £10,0000 -

I would like to thank Siouxsie for helping me through a difficult time in my adolescence:rotfl: :rotfl:
(((winebox))) - stay strong and remember WHY you're doing this. I know other thoughts will be uppermost in your head, but try and allow yourself time to think how well you're doing.......Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

This made me smile. It is that act of defiance isn't it. Good luck for tomorrow, My dads termianl illness was the time when I really did hit the bottle,in fact I remember asking for two days off for the funeral and my boss said why 2? Couldn't say that I planned on getting so trollied I would be useless the next day could I?
Undoubtedly will be a very tough emotional day for you. Don't know what to suggest really but just sending you my thoughts and best wishes.
