Hi everyone
Can i join for March please? Seems to be getting a bit of a habit with me pouring a glass of vino on Friday (at tea time:eek: ) and before i know it i have a bottle (ok lets be honest possibly 2) gone. I will take it easy for my first time though and pledge 25 days out of 31. Challenges do seem to work for me as i am too stubborn to fail so hopefully with the support of peeps on here i can do this.;) I do need to lose some weight also (about stone and a half) and the only thing stopping this is the alcohol as i eat quite healthily. The extra money will come in handy too. I will keep a note of my successful days in my signature if that's ok. x:APayment A Day £15 (started 17/5/14) :j0 -

Oh meant to ask FluffyB- where do you find Kudzu- went in the health food shop today and they don't stock it- did you get it online? Thought I'd give it a go, every little helps I suppose?
Eselt, you can buy it online from various places I think, but Holland and Barratt sell it in their stores which is where I got mine - http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=827
The studies suggest when it was tested on humans,it was given for about a week to a number of 'heavy drinkers' and then they were put in a room with 6 bottles of beer and told to drink as much as they liked. Half the people were given placebos, and half the Kudzu. Those who had the Kudzu drank an average 1.8 bottles and those who had the placebo drank an average 3.5. The same thing happened when those given the placebo were later given the Kudzu. Studies on animals also showed it cut intake by half.
Personally, I don't care if it works or is all in the mind, so long as it works for me and makes cutting down a doddle :rotfl: :rotfl: Also, there are no reported side effcts :j
The third night I completely forgot I had poured myself another glass of wine and that is unheard of :rotfl:
Last night I was at a party. I can't calculate how much I drank as the glass sizes were smaller than my norm and they weren't filled to the brim like I doI had about 3 of them and then a fourth which got topped up when I had drunk half, but I still reckon it was well under a bottle :T
I have drunk every evening, moderately for several years now, but it was in 2004 that my drinking got to levels that I was unhappy with. I might have a large v&t followed by a whole bottle of wine and more at weekends as we were going through a mega stressful time involving a court case. During this ti me my entire family were being bullied, intimidated, threatened and blackmailed and more. This all lasted until 2007 but took it's toll on our health and wellbeing[we won btw :j ] I then gradually started to cut down - first missing out the large vodka, then gradually cutting down to 3/4 of a bottle of wine. I also had some AF days but this year I haven't had any AF days so have deicided to do it this way. I don't want to stop altogether, just cut down to a sensible level and since I have already cut down before I should manage it without a problem - so the Kudzu will just make that transition easier I hope :T
Good luck today everyone0 -

Gc thanks for your post and I am trying to change myself, my signature says I want to be a better me and I do. I am very interested in anything new age, keep wondering whether to learn meditation? I have previously tried but without success. I also like alternative therapies, I have a mental picture of a very serene me, calm, in control and healthy. Thats the aim anyway, so take care and thankyou for your support in our challenge, hugs xxxxxx
