Thats the problem Jo drinking is the norm, when you try to give it up people seem to think that there is something wrong with you. My friends seem tired of the fact that I am not drinking.
Sooooooo many people say they can't do without a drink it is very scary.
I am thinking of the reasons I shouldn't drink and a big plus for me is that its midnight and if the phone suddenly rings I can answer it without being kaylied.
I am lucky in the fact that Mr BB does not drink, thats the thing you see if I had alcohol in the house I would drink it Thats why I don't buy it, if you know your weakness then its easier to avoid temptation. Though temptation will always be there its the choice we make if we succumb to it or not?

So I hope you sleep well tonight?

I'm amazed that practically everyone I know drinks every night, just a glass...so they say, but maybe they're just like me?

I've still got the box of Becks from xmas in the kitchen, OH never got rid, but it doesn't bother me this time round...plus I know if I break into it I'd have to buy a whole new box to replace it with!

I'm sat here waiting for DD1 to get home, I told her 11pm. She was grounded last Saturday cos she went AWOL and as OH is out tonight she twisted me round her little finger, I said she could go out for an hour, then two, then 2 and a half. Now she's over an hour late!! She will never learn that girl  just hoping that OH doesn't come home early and catch her....and me letting her go

Off to bed now, gosh I am never up this late. What will Paul Mckena think?
Jo I hope your DD comes home soon, try not to worry I am sure she will waltz in soon and wonder why you are so wound up that she is late. They just don't realise do they?
So please take care and see you tomorrow for the final total day. :T

That's because you are only stopping drinking. You drink to escape yourself.
If you change yourself, then you don't feel the desire to drink :D

    Hi everyone,

Well rather than go off in a sulk as I'd 'ruined' Lent I managed an AFD yesterday by driving to the party. Quite pleased with myself about that actually as otherwise could see the next month disappearing in a haze of fumes.

Ophelia, I need to come up with things to fill the gap too. One night recently a bath worked. Although I used to have wine in the bath there was none in the house and I didn't dash to the shops in my towel! Sometimes the hardest evenings are when I feel so restless and not being able to settle to anything. Maybe computer games are the way to go, I will try that next time.

So, I think I will try and set an achievable target for March, NTC could you please put me down for 16 AFDs?

    Hi all

I've found filling the gap really hard too- especially when you are feeling really jangly and seem to have the physical energy but no mental energy to motivate you. I've been doing a bit of exercise (OMG I can't believe I've fessed up to that- I did spend a year on the sofa drinking and watching Jeremy Kyle after all!) . I've got a rowing machine, so I plonk it in front of the TV, sit down and have a row- don't do alot but it keeps me busy. I've done all sorts of things to keep busy, sorted family photos into albums, cleaned the cooker (!), researched family history online etc. I might join an evening class- thought yoga would be good as I'm sure I could use a lot of the techniques to manage stress and relax. Blimey, how middle aged does that all sound? I'm 17 in my head and never thought I'd be doing stuff like this, ever. Used to find dying my hair a good way of getting through the cravings as I put the dye on and couldn't go out the house to the shop for 40 mins.

I suppose with me filling the time with exciting things is limited by the fact that I haven't got a lot of spare cash so can't splash out on expensive treats- saying that, I always found the money for alcohol, funny that.

Looking forward to the grand total today- everyone should feel really proud.

Well done to everyone for all you achieved in February. Even if you just missed your target you have still remained AF for longer than you would have done last February;)

I am glad I didnt go out and ruin my last push last night. Thanks to my virtual mates on here for the laugh and the company. I honestly didn't think I would do it at the beginning of the week and for me it was a first with a 5 day AF run. In Feb I have worked on going out and being AF in certain situations and I will be working on doing more of this in March otherwise I will be an AF hermit:o Its scary how much of my social life revolves around alcohol.

I am going for the 16 for March to keep in line with my goal to be AF for more than half of 2009.

I thinkWineboxsaid she was updating the Feb list at lunchtime so I will put the March list up this afternoon. I will just stick to those who have declared a target for now as we have a few on the list who have disappeared.
    29th Feb Quit Day :j
