Argh. My resolution crumbled a bit at the wedding on Saturday night. I had about 3/4 of a pint of lager, thought "meh, why am I doing this", and then didn't have anything else.
So I've kinda ruined my "I'm going for 100% alcohol free this month", haven't I?
Maybe I like the self-sabotageing thing.
So 14/15 for me.0 -

Its just a little blip GP....nothing to worry about in the scheme of things.
I remember way back on the first alcohol thread some people allowed themselves a little 'mistake'. I think Jo and BHB called it something to do with golf????Cant remember ,.but anyway they jumped straight back onto the wagon and 'forgot' their little slip...after all you soon realised the error of your ways.
Fedupandskint...I hope your pain goes away soon and well done on the one glass of wine....wish I could do that.:o
Well done to everyone else. You are all doing really well.....although its a bit quiet on here.
Come on now stop lurking...get posting....we all need some support.
Good luck and hugs to you all.

Hi all,
Firstly, thanks for all the supportive messages and advice that followed my previous posts.
I've decided to try and start my liberation from alcohol in March as I know that if I jump into it without any preparation it will be doomed to failure.
My weekend has been a bit of a mixed one. My dad was 60 on Saturday so I had a few drinks at his party. The irony? I actually moderate my drinking around others compared to how much I have when I'm on my own. Weird.
After a productive day of washing/cleaning/running today, I let myself down by having a few whiskies. I was determined not to have anything but I failed miserably.
My week at work looks like it's going to be a hindrance rather than a help. I've got a deadline on Friday and will probably be working 14-15 hours each day, so the only consolation I will have is a drink when I get back.
Negativity aside, I'm really excited by March now. I genuinely feel that I can forget about drinking for a few days in the month and that will be the building block for an alcohol rest of 2009! :T
Anyway, good luck to everyone else on their own personal journeys.

Hi everyone,
I have been a bit off the rails since New Year. Quite a few nights I've been awake, dehydrated and thirsty and being impressed with how everyone is doing on here in my brief catching up sessions.
So, popped in to say hi. I would like to come on here more again, it was really helping when I was spending more time with you all on this thread.
I've been managing the odd day AF a week but not enough overall and too much wine too often so lots of hangovers.0 -
Good morning everyone...hope you are all ok today.
Good luck for an AF March stereosteve.Remember small steps. There is still half of February left so maybe you could try cutting down a bit between now and March by drinking a glass of water/pop in between each alcoholic drink you have.:D Or just drinking every other day.:D Every little bit helps and this could help to focus your mind ready for March.
Once again good luck with whatever you decide.
Welcome back Wanna Bee Free...keep reading...keep posting and I am sure you will get where you want to be eventually.
Budgetbabe..I hope you are not too sad now that your DS has gone home...and a very special well done to you for stayin AF through your trials and tribulations.
Stay strong everybody

It's a Mulligan MP, I think it was YM that first mentioned it, it's, in drinking terms, a blip to be forgotten....unfortunately I've had so many I don't think they can be referred to as Mulligans anymore
Good for you Steve, I second what MP says and get yourself ready for March by reducing and preparing, think of things to keep you busy in the evenings when you get home from work. Good luck, keep posting
WBF, great to have you back, good luck
I should be back on track today, gonna stop at Icelands on the way home for a box of mint feasts or some other nostalgic ice cream on a stick...plus might stop off at the library for summat to read. Gotta take DD2 to the orthodontists this arvo up London so will only have her in the car which means I won't stop at the offy with her in the car or take her in there which will help...plus I need to be sober cos DS has got chicken pox so bad today that he hasn't stopped crying, they're down his throat and in his mouth so he can't swallow and they are on his feet and between his toes and he can't walk, off to docs now to see if he can suggest anything else I can do for him apart from calamine and calpol
Have a good day everyone

Just reading the Wiki link I gave for a mulligan, this is the most apt bit:
The term has found a broader acceptance in both general speech and other games, meaning any minor blunder which is allowed to pass unnoticed or without consequence. In both senses, it is implied that a mulligan is forgiven because it was either made by a rank beginner, or it is unusual and not indicative of the level of play or conduct expected of the person who made the mulligan.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
