  • Hi Everyone

I have a question and was hoping that you folks might be able to help. As you know I have been using the snowball and was fiddling about with the figures on it this evening.
The snowball says something like that in some instances it might be more cost effective to pay of a small debt sooner with a lower apr sooner.....so my smaller debt is approx £3000 at 26.80% with current min payment of £75pm and the higher debt approx £14000 at 34.9% with a current fixed payment of £360pm.....I am currently paying my PADs to the higher debt and the higher interest rate; but would it actually be cheaper for me to clear the lower debt with the lower interest rate first???
Looking at the higher debt it would probably take me in excess of 3yrs to repay if I continue paying towards eliminating this debt first.
If I were to change to paying the lower debt first I could do that in approx 1 yr; probably less.
I'm not bothered about hte psychological factor just the numbers.
Can someone please help me with this???
    Thanks
    xx

The debt with the higher interest rate should be paid off first as long as there are no penalties for paying earlier and as long as the interest has not been frontloaded people sometimes pay off their smaller debt just to motivate them but as you said this does not bother you then go for the highest rate.

Was a really great day, spent the day in Bath before going to the restaurant for the evening. Got 2 bargains in the upmarket charity shps in the city, brand new Calvin Clein jeans for OH and brand new adidas footie boots for DS2, both for £8!!:T

Finally got my car back, along with £200 bill:mad:  That's £500 I've paid the garage in a month! My credit card balance is going up instead of down!

Oh and the missing mattress turned up today, at the same time as the refund hit my account HHMMMM, do I tell them or let them find out in their own good time?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyway no pad today but hoping to make one tomorrow.
