money's been a bit tight so fell off the pad wagon for the 'start' of the month (mine runs from the 23rd) but back on again now and another £1 to hsbc - i also have a ddr going to them for the min payment and a sto for £7 a week so it's coming down nicely but it won't be cleared before the 0% runs out:confused: and i can't afford anymore.

I hope they do soon too. ;)

My OH is a very mature student (40+) at university. He is supposed to be starting a 12 month paid placement in June but we have also recently found out he has a progressive disorder which is going to impact upon his ability to work in the future.

I know there are so many people that are much worse off than me but i feel that i need some sort of....well, i wish things were different i suppose. But we have to wait and see and i need to make sure that i can avoid the dreaded BR cos if i don't then it will be the end of my career.

    Moan over.

    Love to all xxxx

Is it possible for one half of a couple to go BR and not the other if they seperate their finances first? Not trying to encourage skulduggery on your part but just putting out feelers for a possible way of protecting your career. Maybe the debt could be loaded onto OH as much as possible leaving your part of it low and manageable?
Not sure I dare suggest this but could a paper divorce whilst living in the same house be practical. To the creditors it would be divorce but to yourselves everything to carry on as normal.
I'm sure there must be laws against it but maybe worth checking with people who know about these things?

    Morning all

Now I've been paid I feel brave enough to look at the bank account so £10.04 to savings this morning.

Miss Thrifty - I can understand everything you say and feel. I can't understand how the victims of crime always seem to be more severely punished than the criminal. If I can't get the insurance to pay for the heating oil then that means I've been 'fined' £400. I doubt it will cost the thief that much.

A couple of years ago I had my bag stolen - fortunately there was no cash in my purse and nothing really valuable in my bag (and the bag itself was a cheap one) - however my passport was in my bag. I was shocked to learn that in order to report my passport stolen I had to fork out £70'ish as I had to apply for a new one at the same time. As there is a £100 excess on the insurance I couldn't claim from that. I didn't have enough money to pay for the passport so at the moment I don't have one. The evidence against the lad who stole it was circumstantial so he wasn't prosecuted - even though he was spotted coming out of my office with something up his sweatshirt.

Sometimes it seems as though the system is all wrong. It's no wonder people are tempted to take the law into their own hands. And yes, stocks would be a wonderful punishment to bring back. At least if you could throw rotten fruit or something at the baddies then it would give you some sense of satisfaction. Of course, Health & Safety wouldn't allow it or would allow it if the person in the stocks wore safety glasses and protective padding:rotfl:

Oh well - that's my rant for the day. Onward and upward.

    Have a nice day everyone.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

Ah well. Just a thought. Hope you manage to find a solution to save your career but it doesn't sound hopeful.
  • Aaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhhhh.....

Forgot to do my PAD yesterday.

PAD today (into Sealed Pot) = £3.31.

Had a review of my bingo accounts last night and I'm currently £8.30 in profit this month (free scratch cards only) so tomorrow I'll debit this from the accounts and pay it towards my HSBC CC.

    Happier days to come.

Really looking forward to updating my signature on Saturday... :D
