  • Re: 20ps, here's a thought that we did when DD was at primary school to collect for - I forget what now, computers in schools or some fund for something or another. Anyway, the idea is that you collect 20p pieces and keep them in a Smarties tube. i think 1 Smartie tube holds £5.00 of 20p coins

I remember doing this with my youngest Daughter - made me smile to think of it:o

PAD today for £1.10 to CR Card - Still getting 'Radio Times' on subscription so that is what I have saved by not buying it in the shops!:T

hello to everyone, especially any new PAD'ers. after reading through all the posts from last night & today i can't help feeling so lucky that i found this mad, mad, lovely thread! :D

right, i've got myself organised today. my signature now has all the info i need to keep track of my money...i think...

we've decided to overpay on our mortgage (i checked, we can) starting from 1 march after the disappointment of yesterday's annual statement. i've set up a standing order for £100 a month. this "extra" money will come from the savings we've made by quitting the gym. i've also reviewed our overall monthly/annual budget and will save £175 a month for my various accounts - this is money that will mostly be spent, but if i don't keep in in separate pots i won't keep track of it properly...
    • £25 for birthday presents
    • £10 for what if
    • £35 for car tax/insurance
    • £25 for house insurance
    • £50 for christmas
    • £30 for kids (shoes, school trips etc)
this doesn't account for absolutely everything, but come april when car & house insurance are due, hopefully i'll get better quotes than last year and have a bit "spare". i reckon i need to save about £200 a month to account for everything so i've got a £25 shortfall. but things like clothes & presents can be bought cheaper (or done without) if needs be...and can save council tax for feb and march. that's about £130 each month - although planning on spending a bit of this on some new bark for the kids area of the garden...

also paying back the kids bank accounts properly starting in february. DS1 will get £105 per month & DS2 £38 per month until they're sorted.

holiday spends for the summer will continue to be the little amount i'm PAD'ing each day. today i've added £1.27.
sorry if the details are totally boring to everyone else, just need to put it in writing so i can see for myself!

    xxx
