Hi everyone.
Pam - hope everything is well with you?
I hope to get the update done today - as long as I don't get interrupted! I also have a huge pile of ironing which I must get done today or we'll be going round naked for the rest of the week!
I also need to re-sort my stash of wool. Now that we have decided to stay in the 'new' bedroom up in the attic (not as scary as it sounds!), I have the downstairs bedroom free for other things, so I'm going to move all my wool into it, as well as my Christmas present stash. We can still use it as a spare bedroom but I can't let all that free space go to waste! It means I can get all my wool out of the spidery part of the house, making it easier to sort through. I have a huge 400gm ball of white baby wool somewhere, which I bought for Preemie items, so I hope to find it when I go through the wool.
Anyway, our new bedroom needs a lot of work doing to it, but it's a lovely room to sleep in, so we have decided to keep it for now. I'm dreading the next few days, though; DH is off work for most of the week and is threatening to take down the ceilings - one in the kitchen which will expose some nice beams, and one in the dining room area which will be vaulted right up to the roof. Then he wants to take out the wall between the kitchen and dining room. TBH, although it will look great and is what we planned, I could do without the added mess! I'll just have to hide up in the attic until it's done, I think!
Anyway, I'm off to look at Chalky's blog, then have a shower. I'll try and get the update done today, then add some photos to my blog. I've taken loads of the places we visited with our friends last week.
Hope you all have a good day, and (((hugs))) to those who haven't been posting lately - hope all is well.

Morning all,
Kathy it sounds like you will be having fun getting your wool in a new home. I recently transferred mine from the cramped understair cupboard, along with my other craft stuff, to the spare room.....thing is now there is some room for maybe a few more balls! My stash is tiny compared to what I imagine some of you have but still a good amount to keep me going for now. I have lots of baby wool as have done a lot of baby knitting for friends, niece/nephew and of course, DS! I always keep my eye out for bargains, although not many up here.......might have to ask mum (once she is fit and well) for wool for Christmas present or even if she sees anything cheap locally.
Last night I finished my first angel pocket....came out quite big but is nice (tis on wooligans on yahoo if anyone interested!)- used a blue sparkle wool for main bit and white sparkle for crochet detail/ties. Not sure if this wool would be suitable for preemie clothing though as the sparkle might scratch ? Think it looks nice for burial stuff though and may even make a crib with it ? Also plan to start the crochet boob pattern that maytaurus sent me (seeing as I can crochet now).
Ok, sorry to waffle. I love reading the posts on here and hope mine are not too long for people.
I hope everyone else is well and knitting/crocheting their little fingers off (not literally of course!).

In haste as must on...lodger away until thurs so time to potter in peace...started preemie hat and off now to see cats and take them to the vet with their new mummy and sort out all their papers being transferred...will be nice to see them and wnder if they will ignore me as cats often do when sulking with you!! Have a good day all...OS very impressed by your rapid progress!! Miol would OH maybe do one room at a time rather than demolishing the whole house in one bash!! Any news on the latest arrival - are they all settling in?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

morning lovely ladies - hope that you are all well and can feel all the sunshine that i am beaming your way. i am very happy at the moment - my brother phoned last night and told me that he would come with my SIL when she comes to london on her course. that means that we will have 4 days together!!! i am so excited - even though SA is only 12 hours away on a plane, it costs a lot to go there and then there is the time etc. anyway, i am so happy i hope everyone can share a bit of what i am feeling.
i was reading a dutch blog the other day and noticed that the blogger had a wonderful set-up for her studio. i thought that i might copy some of her ideas and yesterday went out and bought a couple (need 2 more) of very bright tub trugs for my wool stash. that way you have a good idea of what you have and how much you have. i am going to set one aside for work in progress and one for finished works that need to be sent away. i must be honest, its is so much tidier than loads of bags from kemps lying around my study. it is very exciting.
oh well, off to the gym for me and then back to those squares for knit a square, i am determined to make my target, but if i am in doubt, i should have more than enough time during the drive down to toulouse that i am going to be making next week.
hugs, smiles and loads of happiness beaming your way everyone

Shezmit - hope the parcel was OK. Wasn't sure about the size of the blankets. One of them was more of a diamond shape than a square shape, but I thought it might be nice for wrapping. The cardigan was very small, I bought a new preemie pattern book and that was the 1st size, will it be any good or is it too small!Wooligans member 2010 - 6 animal blankets. 2 angel wraps, 2 baby hat, 4 Aaron squares, 5 cardigans

Morning all, just popping on quickly as really should be doing stuff. There seems to be a happy vibe on here today - hope it's catching! Mioliere I cringe to think of the mess as we have lived in places and done them up around us. The worst stuff I have come across is the plaster made from horse hair and other stuff which I think may include cow poo - the dust gets everywhere
Pam - hope you are OK
Right. Really must do some things today.
Will pop back in later
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Hello everyone, I’m here safe & sound, sorry I haven’t been posting, been in a strange not talking mood, hadn’t realised how much time had passed.:o
I’ve been lurking, a bit obsessively, there’s been so much going on, so many newbies full of enthusiasm, a big welcome to you all.:j:j
I like the poems and prayers that have been shared, thank you.
On the knitting front, I got bored with the cabled scarf (xmas pressie) and really really bored with the crochet baby blanket, so I decided to do something for me, I found a lovely variegated 4ply and a simple but effective shawl pattern & I’m loving the knitting, I’ve taken a piccy but can’t find the cable to link to the ‘puter, its obviously somewhere safe:rotfl:.
luv

Hi all - DH is happily (?) plastering away upstairs, making more mess!
DPixie - we've always lived in houses that needed doing up but this is definitely the worst one - and we are too old for it, really! Haven't come across horse hair and what not, but have lots of earth floors with great big granite cobbles in them. We've already concreted over some of them - can't dig the granite out, it would need heavy machinery and about five years to spare! The upstairs areas were just used for storage (hay and so on), so they have floors laid one over the other, with very old floorboards. The upside is the fantastic beams everywhere, little doors and windows in odd places, and little holes in the walls that will be great for displaying things. It will be truly lovely when it's done, the sort of house I could only dream about in the UK. As you know, with property so cheap out here, and plenty of outbuildings and land, the opportunities are endless. What I hadn't bargained for were the spiders - I thought I was getting used to them but you should have seen the monster that was just strolling casually across the hall floor this morning! My DH couldn't believe how shocked I was - I said 'it's just sick living with spiders that size, and I want to go back to the UK NOW!' Now I'm on the look out for them! Have a great time with your brother. How lovely for you both!
Orkney - my stash of wool is fairly huge, I must admit (DH doesn't know the half of it!) but wool here in France is very expensive, very limited in choice, not readily available (just one wool shop near me, and the lady who runs it is not a proper 'wool shop' lady - you can just tell!) and nowhere near as good as in the UK. Well, that's my excuse! I can't bear the thought of running out of it, though I don't think I'll live long enough to use up what I've got!
Anyway, I've been putting off the ironing so I'm off to do it right now!
