  • Hello everyone

1 bunting for me when you next update

I've been busy as I did a knitting course on Thursday learning how to use dpns- now I can knit hats without a seam :j

Shezmit I sent a small package to you yesterday, hope it gets there ok today!
Do the baby hats need to have a rib at the bottom? I also learnt how to make them with a rolled stocking stitch brim which is much easier to knit, but may be a bit bulky for a baby to lie on the roll of the brim  I can knit lots of hats quickly in the round now, it's just the rib that takes a while!

Have a good weekend knitting everyone (and no housework!)

    Jo xx

Hi Jellybeans - well done on the course. Dpns are great for doing away with sewing a seam. Perhaps you could just garter stitch the brim, like we do for the IS hats? It might not be as bulky as the rolled edge.

For those who crochet, there's a pattern for a hat (on Bev's Country Cottage, I think) for a hat done in the round, so no seaming there! Seaming puts us all off, doesn't it?!

I've decided that my house will look so much more homely if I can write 'I love you' on ALL the furniture in EVERY room!

Hi Shez - I love the idea of a competition. You should get a good response from here! Thanks very much for thinking of it.

  • I discovered the other day that there is a local lady who collects squares and sends out blankets. As she likes the sqaures knitted diagonally, I thought I'd have a go and see if I liked knitting them that way - then decided not to stop at 7" and my square is now measures 20"! (which is about as many stitches as will fit on the needles). Hopefully I'll find a home for it.

By the way - what is "housework" ?

    Hi All
Should be grocery shopping but can't bring myself to brave the very chilly weather when the alternative is being warm , refereeing the kids and knitting!

Please could I be updated with 1 bunting which I have just put in a parcel ready to be sent to Shelley. Shezmit, please can you PM me the address and I will post it on Monday while the car is being MOTd.... Fingers crossed for a cheap result from the garage!
Hope everyone is happy and well x
Forgot to say, I think my totals should be amended as 2 hedgehogs have been pilfered by my boys so they will never end up at LH. I will do replacements. I don't much mind - DS23YO said "Mummy you are sooo clever making these" - I'm chuffed that they think I'm "sooo clever"!

Hi all. Zippitty - housework is something I used to do! Your huge square will do as a baby blanket, so it will be more than welcome to keep a LO warm.

Worleite - just click into the link for the bunting pattern. Thanks to Shez for posting it. Glad you are finding your way around the site! If you click on here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=397751&postcount=18 it will give you a list of all the abbreviations used on here. Makes typing easier if you can say 'DH' instead of 'dear husband'! Sorry about the confusion over your name/password!

K2tog - congratulations on such successful hedgehogs. I suppose I should take two from your total, or I'll get confused! They've obviously found welcome owners! Good luck with the MOT!

Well, I haven't been near my needles today - other things keep interrupting (mainly my DH!), but I fully intend to finish my purple and yellow dinosaur tonight.
