Hi everyone - we've been tidying up cables and sockets so I've been offline for a while. The French seem to love having wires hanging around everywhere and it needed sorting. The weather here has been gorgeous today - I hope it's good in the UK and that you have a great bank holiday.
I'm going to try and organise my time a bit better. I'm finding it hard to wake up in the mornings because the shutters outside the windows make it seem like it's still the middle of the night, even if it's daylight outside. We'll soon be moving into an upstairs bedroom and will be able to have just curtains at the window, so I should get back into the habit of rising early - it'll give me time to myself on here without interruption!
Anyway, the intention is to put some knitting at the ready for this evening; we have no TV at the moment (and don't really miss it - at least during the light evenings) so we forget the time and, by the time we think of sitting down for an hour or so, it's bedtime! I must try and get some sort of routine going.
I'll back later.

I agree ‘we really don’t know how lucky we are most of the time.’
Re;’ does anyone else get the square circle newsletters ......... as a result of that i am now concentrating on squares - i have decided that i will knit the equivalent of 4 blankets (160 large squares) and then move on to knitting jumpers for some of the kids.’
I think it’s a very worthy cause and I did have Soweto Comfort Club who join and distribute the blankets listed on the

but I removed it because items have to be sent to South Africa !
I just thought that obviously the postage costs would be ridiculous and even if people could afford it, I couldn’t see the sense in knitting things for them as it would seem a better idea to just make a donation even if it was only the same amount as the p&p costs would be.

However, i am very much a "cast on, cast off, plain and purl" kinda girl - no fancy stuff for me. So ... does anyone have a really easy pattern for a jumper or cardigan - with sleeves (as the johannesburg winters are bitter) that i can knit without too much help?
Thanks for that and looking forward to completing my next ... 110, 8" squares.
Have a lovely day and hugs to all.

Maytaurus,
I've just finished one of the "Little Angel" tank tops in a nice peach colour for Loving Hands. It was quite easy to do.

Good morning all! I woke up early (which is a change for me since we moved here!) and have started reading through all the posts I've missed while I've been offline.
Pam - thank you so much for all your hard work with the updating. I can't tell you how reassuring it's been knowing it's been kept going! I've read back to the last update and the numbers are amazing, aren't they? Please tell me when you want me to take it over; you have probably started totalling for the next update and I would hate to mess it up by jumping straight in!
Thank you all for such a great welcome back - it's great to be back with you all. Still no knitting done but I keep having to 'help' DH on the house. I'm trying to get into some sort of routine so that I can fit everything in - up to now it's all been very chaotic.
DPixie - you have my sympathy with France Telecom, believe me! I would NEVER have gone with them if I'd known how bad they are. In the end, the problems became so complicated - and I found it more and more difficult to have to keep explaining it all in French - that I insisted they found me someone British to talk to! They finally did and, although it still took a further two weeks until I was connected, the British lady who took over the entire case sorted it all out for me. I can pm you her name if you want and you could try asking for her - she works in the technical services department.
Jean - I emailed you yesterday - hopefully it got to you in your part of France!
I haven't been able to log back in to Loving Hands for some reason - it wouldn't accept me on my username and password, so I applied for a new password, and it won't accept me on that either! I shall keep trying, though. I've managed to get back in to the daily quiz and I can read all the posts and so on, but, without being able to log in, I can't post.
Anyway, I have started reading backwards through the thread but such a lot has been going on and you've all been so busy, there's a lot to catch up and, also, loads of lovely patterns and stuff from Maytaurus to look through! Thanks, Maytaurus!
Well, I'm off to put the kettle back on. We shouldn't run out of 'proper' English tea here - friends of ours run a fish and chip van here and are able to order stuff in from the UK, so they can keep us supplied with the tea we like! The French make wonderful coffee but I have yet to find decent tea here!
Anyway, I'll call back later. Have a great day and I hope the weather is good. It's 6.30 here and looks as if it will be a nice day here.
