Good morning everyone - Happy Mothers Day.
Found some lovely varigated wool in Mums stuff and spent yesterday knitting baby hats with it, 5 all different styles.

here's a little poem I found in an old recipe book:

    HER FIRST CAKE
She measured out the butter with a very solemn air,
The milk and sugar also, and she took the greatest care
To count the eggs correctly and to add a little bit
Of baking powder which you know, beginners oft omit,
Then stirred it all together and she baked it a full hour,
But she never quite forgave herself for leaving out the flour.

I love it so thought I'd share.

    luv

    HAPPY MOTHERS DAY everyone:A

Shelley - glad he is feeling a bit better today, I hope he is managing to eat something.
I started on the vent hats last night and got a couple done after we had put DGD's to bed, aiming for half a dozen this time. There were 2 boobs in the large parcel I sent you yesterday, and I will do some more when I have finished the vent hats.

prfungi - Thanks for sharing the poem, I did something similar once but it was the sugar I left out, my OH said he had never tasted a cake like it

shaz - ooo poor you hope you feel better soon

Sue UU - I hope to teach my 2DGD's when they are older, one is just 3 and one is 5 in June. I was knitting last time I saw them and they wanted to "help" so I sat them one at a time on my lap, and knitted while they held the needles with me, they loved it. So when they are a bit older I will start to teach them.
It's good to pass our skills on from one generation to another, they give so much pleasure in all sorts of ways

Well better go get sorted we are off out soon

If it hadn't been for you Aeshna, I'd possibly not have thought of knitting again ..until perhaps in my dotage! So thanks so very much, I really appreciate your words on the other site a couple (or more) weeks ago.

Thank you for being so kind Sue, I really did mean every word of it - I'm not sure you realise just how valuable your support is over there! :T

You may be cursing me before long for getting you back into knitting - once you're hooked, that's it, you'll have wool stash coming out of your ears!! :D

Keep up the good work with the knitting, it's wonderful that your grandkiddie is so interested, let's face it, if we don't show them now, they'll probably never learn, which is a pretty sad thought.

Happy Mother's Day to all mum's out there, have a great day!
