Thanks, Chalky - got your pm and, like Pippa, I won't want the postage refunding, I'm just really glad to be of help and so pleased that you have asked us!

I promise I'll update tomorrow; my guests will have left by late tonight. I just popped back in to see what response there was to Chalky's post and it's really heart-warming to see how many of us want to help. We're a lovely bunch, aren't we?!! You are all :A :A :A

Hi Chrisbethany - that's great news, getting an order for a tea cosy; your knitting must be very good!

Hi Kathy - no, my knitting's not brilliant - just free! :rotfl: (Well, I only knit for family/friends - not good enough to sell) If I can get my head round how to post photos I will when finished. I'm cheating cos it's meant to be in six, bright, trendy stripes of Aran (shades like 'gooseberry' ) which would make it very expensive (for me, anyway) so this is in plain terracotta (DDs kitchen is shades of brown) with cream pompoms. I'm delighted cos, being ss in aran it's only taken yesterday pm to knit - but am putting off making pompoms (haven't done them for years so need to practice first to get 3 the same size).

I wasn't sure if it was ok to mention other projects on this thread, as it's really about knitting for charity (don't want to get chucked out when I've only just joined!!:o ). I do follow the knitting thread, too. Wanted to make a hot water bottle cosy for a friend coming to stay tomorrow night but ran out of time to knit - luckily found some turquoise furry material in loft which has machined together ok in half an hour - where there's a will ... ;)

Love to all :happyhear and keep up all the wonderful work :T

Wow, a lot has happened on here since my last update! Loads of things to add, a great response to Chalky's appeal, links from Maytaurus - this year has got off to a cracking start thanks to all of you.

Well, my visitors left last night for their new life in France so, even though it was late by the time they had gone, I had a bath then settled down to do a bit more sewing-up. Shelley - I would have got more done if it hadn't been for having people to stay. It didn't help that my BIL kept sitting in 'my' seat on the sofa next to all my knitting stuff! Still, it was great to have them here for their last night in the UK.

Chalky - what a great response to your appeal! I'm really glad you asked us to help - after all, this is another baby in need and that's what we are all about.

If everyone who is donating something to Chalky's appeal would like to list it separately, perhaps we could have a 'Chalky's appeal' in our update?

Chrisbethany - you are far too modest! Your knitting must be good! As for 'cheating' by not using all the different colours in the pattern, I think we all adapt patterns in various ways so it's not cheating. It also makes the item you make even more unique.

Here's a link to making pompoms that Maytaurus found for us last year.http://www.needlepointers.com/ShowAr...spx?NavID=1527

It's also fine to post details and photos of our other projects - we love to see what everyone else is doing so, please, post away. I need to add a photo of the monkeys I made for my grandchildren for Christmas, and the handbags I made for my little nieces. No-one would ever get 'thrown off' this thread, so please don't worry! You are all far too valuable to all our causes!

Maytaurus - thanks, once again, for all the links. You're a star. I love the teddy in the dress - I shall definitely be making a few of those!

Well, I hope I get this update correct! Lots of new items to add!

By the way, Jellybeans - how do I find Loving Hands on Facebook, please? I had a quick try last night and couldn't find it.

    Many thanks to you all!

Hi Maytaurus. There's loads going on here, isn't there? Thanks for the link to making pompoms! I've just read your brilliant tutorial on the Knitter's Thread and have posted on there asking if I can copy and paste it on to here? I think if it was in the very first post, it would encourage people who find us here and want to join in. You've explained it very well without using any confusing jargon!
