because the weather was nice so we went out for the afternoon which was really lovely. I did however take a leaf out of knit-on-the-go Anne and finished a bunting and started another while we travelled (not for update yet kathy!). It was productive but some of the B roads made me feel a bit _pale_
better get some tips from Anne!
Hi k2tog

Thank you for the welcome mioliere....have had a quick look and by the instructions at the start 40 stitches will be too much but unsure how many to do for the 7x7 square. Do I just cast on until I get 7 inches and then carry on knitting till its square? Sorry to be dull but am a total beginner and ould value some help! Have posted on feecycle in the hope of free wool...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hi
You would have to be careful going by the length of your cast on, because once you start knitting your first row the cast on row will be pulled in.
Your best bet is to do a little test swatch to see roughly how many stitches you get to an inch. Just cast on say 10 stitches and work a few rows then measure an inch to see how many stitches and how many rows. I personally do about 5 per inch width and 8 - 9 per inch length, but of course everyone is different and every yarn is different.

.....on the way home we passed ALDI, and errrm well I just had to go and have a look and came out with 4-100g balls of DK, 1 lemon, 2 white, 1 blue also 2- 400g balls Arran , goodness knows where I am going to put it all
All the time I was walking round the shop I kept saying I dont really need any more, but when a bargain is staring you in the face, well you have to dont you
We had to pop into town today, so I suggested to hubby that we go to Aldi to see if there were any offers! Like you Pippa, (and even though DH found a stash of wool in the cupboard yesterday .....he ended persuading me that it would be best if we took the offer up to keep some in! I think that's the way it went anyway!!I've loads to go on with now and couldn't wait to get home.
Finally started on finishing off a little cardi I'd almost finished about 10 years ago (but didn't for some reason) .....but then messed up the cable patterning. Penance d'you reckon??!
The St Teresa's Prayer is beautiful - though who could be possibly offended?!

This thread is full of Aldi "confessions" lately - :money: he would approve!
Have just watched Dirty Dancing and feeling very happy. Off for a quick bath with my mp3 player.0 -
Good morning everyone. I'm up early because we have visitors today and I need to get as much done as I can before they arrive. Once we've had lunch, we'll all be visiting DS1 and DS2 and their families. It will take me away from my packing but will be great for DH and I to get a break from it.
Maytaurus- I hope you are OK? We're really missing you.
I've just made lots of notes of all the updates so far, and will be adding them to the list sometime this evening. I can't believe how much stuff there is to add - you've all been so productive, it puts me to shame.
K2tog - I only recently watched Dirty Dancing for the first time and I really enjoyed it.
Chalky - I will take some of the write-up from Chalky's appeal from the update, but I'll leave in a reference to it because there was such a great response.
Well, I can't think of much else to say now. I have some freelance writing that needs to be done by tomorrow morning, so I think I'll get on with that while it's quiet here - I won't get a chance later!
I'm very grateful to all of you for the way you are keeping this thread going - I would so love to be joining you at the moment but, sadly, that will have to wait until we've moved.
I'll call back later.
