Thanks to you, Lisa, for taking over teddy-sewing duties! You'll probably be a lot quicker than me!

Maytaurus - we've missed you. Thanks for the link; it would be awful if that became the norm everywhere, wouldn't it? Hopefully, Shelley is the right person to hear more about it.

Well, I've done a bit of crochet and will settle down to some sewing up of teddies while Question Time is on a bit later - as long as I can stay awake! I'm hoping to watch Nature's Great Events which I recorded from last night - I've been looking forward to that.

Have a great evening! I'll update tomorrow morning.

    Hi Everyone
Just seen this (and taken advantage of it!) on another thread and thought it might be useful

    http://www.readicut.co.uk/Patons-Moonglow-Chunky-1000g-Pot-Luck-Pack-PRC7667/

It's a real bargain (under 9 quid!) -and so was the other large pack of yarn at heavily discounted price that I was tempted by....OH will pitch a fit! Kathy, I may have to book into Chez Mioliere for a knitting retreat when it arrives - I love the sound of the wine, chatting and knitting that your OH groaned at!

Maytaurus - good to see you back

7 buntings and 5 Aaron squares to add at next update please Kathy.

I know the hospital will know best, but I'm really puzzled as to why hand knitted would be any more risky than bought clothes. I could understand if they were only allowed clothes provided by the hospital, but presumably any clothes brought from people's homes would carry the same risk of bugs?

I agree LC. I never laundered baby clothes at especially high temperatures and neither did anyone who did it for me while we were stuck in hospital. I think it may just be an easier target and perhaps less "blameworthy" to the hospital than things like handwashing or gel before patient contact which in my experience was sometimes lacking. What a terrible shame. I really hope it doesn't catch on as the latest thing to ban.

That link about the hospital is rather sad really. I believe the problem they have is with the new strains of superbugs that hospitals seem rather good at incubating, and the knitted bits can't be washed at high enough temperatures. I think it's overkill to be honest, don't even get me started on folk who scrub everything with disinfectant, they're not actually doing kids (or adults for that matter) any favours. That said, I guess they want to give these little ones every possible fighting chance, but it would be such a pity if this approach becomes the norm.

I've been out visiting my best bud who's 5 months pregnant, had a great evening blethering, but no knitting done!! I was itching to get home to it! After seeing the wonderful gowns on here, I've decided to tackle one myself, but have only just started. Guess I ought to quit blethering and get on with it then!!

the pattern is http://www.bonniebabies.co.uk/new%20bunting.htm. I didn't want to do just plain knit as I get a bit bored.

ETA just realised its knit one below (I think)

Good morning everyone. Yes, I know it's early but I woke up just before 4 o'clock and couldn't get back to sleep! My mind is really working overtime at the moment.

I crocheted another pair of booties last night and made a start on sewing up one of Shelley's teds. I shall try and get those done by the weekend, Shelly, and get them off to you. I'll try and remember the pram star middle this time!

I'm working out my knitting and crochet needs for the move - I want to get most of my wool and patterns packed away over the next couple of days, but will need to leave a bag of stuff out so that I can carry on making things in the evenings before we go, as well as have something to do on the ferry and when we're travelling. I'm not sure if I'm driving one of the cars to France while DH drives the truck. We're still finalising who is coming with us to help with the move; one of our friends is probably coming, possibly with his wife, so I may get him to drive, and I can sit in the truck with DH and do my knitting - this is the option I prefer! I shall probably keep out the baby blanket I am crocheting for DS2's and DIL's forthcoming baby, and a couple of different colours of wool and hooks to make quick preemie hats and booties. Knowing me, though, if I'm a passenger I shall spend most of the journey asleep!

I know one thing, the move is going to be one of the biggest upheavals in my life and I shall be longing to sit down and spend a whole day and evening knitting - I shall be planning one of those soon, despite what needs doing in the house! I need to test the ambience for the Chez Mioliere Knitting Retreats!

K2tog - thanks for the very tempting link you posted yesterday, but I resisted the urge to order - I have lots of wool now and daren't order any more!

Margaret - I shall keep a look out for that book you mentioned - it sounds lovely.

S-Michaels - if you look at K2tog's link - in her post further up this page (#1313) you'll see some bargain packs of chunky.

Well, I'd better get on with the update.

    See you all later.

This is the one for bunting that most people use I think. I haven't done an angels pocket yet and I'm afraid I don't know what k1b is - a typo?! The bunting pattern definitely works fine - even for me :o and isn't difficult but makes a change from squares. And there's very little sewing up!
Having a night off from dreaded Dennis the Menace jumper as didn't manage it in time so may as well slow down and do more over the weekend. Will see what I fancy making after a nice bath when my boys are asleep.

Has anyone "seen" Shazrobo or Maytaurus lately? They both seem to be awol and wondering if they're ok?

kathy - inspired by your forthcoming adventure, i decided to have one of my own. a friend and i are going out to france on monday to "camp" in our house in order to oversee some of the work that is currently being done. we have no electricity (that will hopefully be sorted on wednesday afternoon) and the only furniture we have currently is a kitchen - which is not fitted and a few cardboard boxes (which can be used as tables). Luckily we have water - so if we get really whiffy, we can take a cold shower!

The plan is to go there and keep an eye on things and whilst doing that also stock the house up with a table, chairs and some very basic items for the kitchen. we are making do with air beds for the moment. this is all in preparation for some lovely person buying our house here so that we can move permanently to france (hurry up lucky person who is going to buy our house).

anyway, i have a million things to do as i have been instructed to start clearing the loft of all unwanted/unused items. i also need to get some of those jiffy envelopes down so i can send some stuff to shelly and aaron.

enough waffling - i need to start making a list of things that need to be done before i leave on the early flight on monday morning.

    have a lovely day all.
