I have just finished 1 crochet hat for LH!

It's not the finest hat ever created but I'm very pleased with my first attempt and I hope LH will find a home for it.

I'm just going to have a quick look at the patterns you posted earlier Kathy - thankyou!
Want to do another crochet item so I don't forget what to do!

Think I'm going to offer to be Maytaurus's union rep - or her halo polisher! Or perhaps I should offer the services of my 2 young sons. They spend far too much time playing and could definitely fit up a chimney :rotfl:

Hi to all you late night lurkers. Hope this makes you smile. I was happily crocheting away on the train this morning when I noticed a few strange looks and suddenly realised that what was actually the head and neck of a toy giraffe looked embarassingly like a large crocheted condom!

Hi there from another "late night lurker" good to see we're not all in bed by midnight.
First I would like to thank all the kind people who welcomed me to the thread.
Next -I have nearly finished my first attempt at a preemie cardigan - I am happy with the result as far as my knitting goes but have decided that the yarn isn't quite soft enough for a tiny babe - so I have been to my favourite "old fashioned" wool shop and stocked up with some "proper" yarn (got some super oddments for 99p for 50g along with regular stock at £1.99 for 100g - not bad eh!

So - is there anyone out the who can place a cardi for a small to medium sized teddy or doll? I would try it on my little dog but I dont think she'd approve! I'll happily post it off if someone can use it.

What's really nice for me is to have soulmates to talk to at this hour.

    luv to all
    Pam.:hello:

Good morning all! I'm afraid I was in bed by 11 last night because I couldn't keep my eyes open, and that was after an hour asleep on the sofa! I have almost finished a simple crochet cardi, which I have made for my forthcoming grandchild - it's from a pattern that was posted on Loving Hands, here's the link http://bellabambinaknits.blogspot.com/2008/03/cardigan-for-babies.html It was super fast and super easy to make, most of it in double crochet and all made in one piece as far as a short sleeved version, then you just add to the sleeves to make them full length. I'm really pleased to have found such an easy pattern, and must go back to LH and thank the lovely lady who posted it.

Jena - your post is priceless! It reminds me of my SIL's embarrassment when she took the inside of her DD's gloworm toy (it's a toy caterpillar type thing that glows in the dark) into the hardward store and asked if they sold batteries for it. Without its friendly outer cover which shows that it's a toy, it looked like something you'd find in an Ann Summer's shop! She held it up in the shop and only then did she realise what it looked like! I was with her and it took me hours to get over it! As luck would have it, she was served by a young man who just died of embarrassment!

Anyway, back to reality! Thanks for all of your updates and thanks to Maytaurus for all your (unpaid!) work. I'm working on a bonus, Maytaurus, but negotiating with the unions is proving difficult in this current recession!

Maytaurus - thanks for adding my bunting pattern and photos - it's much appreciated!

K2tog - well done on your first crochet attempt. You'll soon be well away - I love crochet because it's so much quicker than knitting and the little hats are perfect practice. The only thing I struggle with is the crochet vent hat but I've decided to have another go; I'm probably reading the pattern wrong or trying to make it as I'm dozing off on the sofa!

Anyway, I shall update now in a separate post.

    Have a great day!

Maytaurus - no, I haven't overslept! Just waking up slowly this morning! The tendonitis means my hands are sometimes stiff when I wake up and they need two cuppas to get them going! I love all the pictures! Like you, I think Roamin in the Gloamin is lucky! I'd encourage DH to join the Navy or something, but he's way too old now! He was in the RAF when I met him but that was many summers ago!

    Anyway, here's the update

PLEASE NOTE: Thanks to everyone for such a good response to Chalky's appeal for the orphanage in Spain. Her SIL has arrived with all our items, and they have been delivered to the orphanage. Chalky has posted some great photos on page 27 of this thread. I think we will have made a big difference to a baby who arrived there with nothing; doesn't it make you feel good?!
