Shezmit - your teds will be fine; they'll just come back with berets on, onions round their necks and bad French accents!

Good morning everyone and thanks for all your good wishes for my forthcoming move. By early next week, we'll have a moving date so I shall keep you all informed!

LC Wilson - I am very lucky that I'll have the wonders of the internet so that I can keep in touch with everyone, and also I won't have to leave MSE behind! I shall be able to make the most of Skype to see and talk to the family, and I'm hoping that will be enough to keep me from pining for them too much, because leaving them behind is the worst part of all this.

SGT - when do you plan to move to Spain and whereabouts in Spain will you be living? I wish you well with all your plans.

Redhead Mum - I'll definitely be keeping the wool handy for the trip! And you're right, at least I'll be able to knit or crochet on the way! I know Chalky did a trip around the UK last year and worked out that she could knit a super-stretchy hat every fifty miles (while her DH did the driving, I hasten to add!). She made hundreds of hats! I shall stick to patterns I don't have to think about while we are on the high seas and on the road - probably the ten minute crochet hat and the ten minute booties.

Daffodilltulip - I haven't seen a pattern for a crochet hedgehog, only a knitted one, but I may have a go at crocheting one - it shouldn't be that difficult because the knitted one is simple. As for what hedgehogs have to to do with anything, if you look at Loving Hands' website (www.lovinghands.org.uk) you'll see they run regular challenges for knitters and one of the current Spring challenges is to make 'trauma' toys. These toys are to be kept in the cabs of ambulances and fire-engines so that, if the paramedics and firemen come across a child who has been caught up in an accident, they can be given a toy to help distract them, and they can keep the toy afterwards. I think it's a great idea. Shazrobo found the hedgehog pattern and it has proved really popular and successful because, although the pattern is simple, the finished result is brilliant.

Shezmit - thanks for putting the pattern on the Preemies UK site. Oh, by the way, your latest Teds arrived yesterday! Thanks for the black wool, too. I was starting to run out and it seems difficult to get black DK here at the moment. I shall make sure this batch of Teds don't need to cross the channel, and get them back to you as soon as I can!

I finished the crochet cardi for my due-in-August grandchild last night. I added some yellow teddybear buttons to it. I'm really pleased with it because the pattern was very easy. I'm making a hat and booties to go with it, and then I'll carry on with making things for Preemies. I'm still working on a crochet blanket for the baby, but I do that between other projects. I also want to knit a couple of toys for my grandchildren before I move to France. I have lots of wool but, if I remember, there is only one place near us in France that sells wool, so I shall have a big shop in my local shop here; I need to make sure I have enough pink and blue for the baby (DIL and DS2 don't want to know the sex of the baby before it's born - although, personally, I think they're having a girl!), so I shall make something in each colour. I've found a lovely crochet dress pattern that I think I'll make anyway. I also need to know that I have plenty of wool for the charity knitting - I'm sure that making things will help me as much as the good causes! I'll also find out which wool suppliers will ship stuff to France - I shall panic if I can't get hold of wool easily! I'll be visiting my wool shop on Monday with the perfect excuse to have a big spend-up! And of course, when we come back in August to meet our new grandchild, I shall have to visit the shop again!

Well, I shall do the update now, in a separate post. It seems to take up most of the page now, thanks to all you lovely people do!

PLEASE NOTE: Thanks to everyone for such a good response to Chalky's appeal for the orphanage in Spain. Her SIL has arrived with all our items, and they have been delivered to the orphanage. Chalky has posted some great photos on page 27 of this thread. I think we will have made a big difference to a baby who arrived there with nothing; doesn't it make you feel good?!

morning all - kathy - i always seem to be a few steps behind you and your updates. can you please update me with 16 more aaron squares when you next do the updates?

as for moving to france, we are in the south west too, about an hour south of toulouse - near l'isle jordain and l'isle en dodon (our local town). our house in in a small village with the most beautiful views of the pyrenees. the weather there is lovely at the moment (i have some friends who live near by) and i must admit that i love it there.

oh well i must get a bit of my "fix" (coffee) and then some therapy (knitting) just to start the day.

    have a lovely day everyone.
