  • what does everyone do to be able to a) afford to go and b) have enough time/holiday from work to go! LOL!

We have just been upped to 5 weeks holiday at work, 3 of which can be taken in summer so I can go for a week and still take the podlings for a fortnight too on a summer holiday :)

Never had a big wedding, never had a honeymoon(34 weeks pg with twins so had to cancel!), never had a posh car, drink once in a blue moon, dont smoke much, never spend money on myself so I will find the money!!!
We are going to set up a savings account for car/Christmas/housefund so we shall dip largely into this! I have never had a holiday with just the hubby so I cant wait!! Only took us 9 years!!:rotfl:

Now could always sell a few kids;)

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately since I looked at dinnertime the price of the Augustus suite went up by almost $200.00!!

The weekend i'm there is something called "March Madness" A lot of guys watching and betting on basketball, so the prices for rooms then are quite high. I've gone for a compromise and booked the Monte Carlo for the Friday and Saturday nights (I know, the building work around there, but its only for two nights)and managed to get the Celebrity Spa Suites at the MGM for $89.00 each for the next three, I think it's a pretty good price for that suite.

I'll keep an eye on the prices for the Augustus Tower though. Cool pictures though Sew.

    Thanks again.

fine by me for yuo to answer dude :)

where is the lake and the shooting :) and the erotic heritage ;)

The nearest shooting to the Strip is the gun store on Tropicana 10 mins in cab from MGM Grand lasttime we fired HK MP5, Glok 21, Desert Eagle, 92F etc..

Lake Mead is cool for boat rentals and Lake las Vegas is worth a trip only if you are a Vegas veteran and you need a distratcon from the strip

The Erotic Heritage Museum is on Industrial Road where Love Boutique used to be next door to DeJa Veu showgirsl behin sort of Mirage/ TI. It is fanatstic it is not a place to go with a group of lads its a place to go with the missus, yes it has loads of hardcore exibits there but it is a couples place. The staff are eduated and clever and friendly its a great afternoon out.

Stew give me MGM over Ceasers any day of the week the rooms may not be as nice but at least you can move round the casino without getting bottlenecked and you dont get idot bouncers at the bars.

what does everyone do to be able to a) afford to go and b) have enough time/holiday from work to go! LOL!

i work shifts so i can often get 2 weeks off for 8 days annual leave , if i pick the right weeks.

as for being able to afford to go , we used to just save . we don't just use MSE in Vegas , we shop smartly , we drive cheap to run , cheap to buy cars and we don't live a extravagant lifestyle. oh and we don't have kids ..yet.

guess that last one goes a long way to explaining it.

that said i very much doubt we will be going this year because ,1) my wife got made redundant at Xmas 2) i spent a lot of money on holidays last year 3) the Exchange rate makes it even harder to afford it.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

    [Show info is here:

Usually it's very unlikely to get discount tickets to a new show...though in this economy it's anyone's guess. Just checked your dates and you're there pretty much immediately after it officially opens...so...discounts seem very unlikely ...tickets go on sale end of Feb.]

Tickets are already on Presale via ticketmaster if you enter the presale code.

Got our tickets already for beginning of May.

    Code is africa

Our answer would be quite similar to twinmumagain...though we have no children which must make it that much easier for us (though it costs a small fortune to board the cats!) :) Oh, and I do smoke too much. :)

But in general, holidays are our main indulgence...it helps that neither of us are big drinkers and cannot stand clubs...I'm convinced that not being big pub/club goers helps more than anything else given what our friends seem to spend their spare cash on...we also rarely eat out at home, more because we're lazy than any sort of frugality.

We used to pay for all of our flights, hotels, rental car, etc. with money we made on ebay though we haven't done that for several years...but in the early days of our marriage when money was a bit tighter it made it a lot easier to justify the trips when we really only had to come up with spending/gambling money. :)
