I'm a DIY man as well.

Just about to book accomodation, anyone been in an Augustus Tower Room at Ceasers?? its either that or the Celebrity Spa Suite at MGM, leaning towards Ceasers as i've stayed at the MGM before (and of course Ceasers Palace is next to the Forum Shops which has a Cheesecake Factory!!).

    Cheers Furf!!!

So to everyone else..... do you do the holiday yourself or do a package??
We were thinking Virgin package(looking at MGM Grand with room upgrade to bungerlow suite.... do these have strip view??) but we dont want the car hire. We are only going for 7 nights(my darling mother/father would never have my 5 for more than that!) and want it to be strip based! Eating, drinking and $100/$200 or so a day for casino(however long that lasts!!)! I will be glued to penny slots ;) Hubby will be glued to Blackjack tables!
Very very excited and its ages away!!!

If you do nothing else, do this.

Check your dates, hotel preference, etc. on Virgin Holidays.

Then go to Virgin Atlantic's website and check the price of your flights on their own.

Then go to the hotel's website and check the price of the rooms on their own (rooms are sold per night, not per person).

I went a bit mad once and compared prices this way and posted about it here:

    http://www.openvegas.com/vegas/forums/showthread.php?t=51120&highlight=Virgin+Holidays

Maybe it's changed since then with the credit crunch and weakening of the pound, resellers may be looking to offload stuff cheap to cut losses...but at the time, VH was a complete and utter rip off...and that was without even looking for any hotel deals - just plugging dates into their reservations engine.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

It's off-strip so most people here who have been to Vegas have never seen it to rate it.

My friends went to see it and said it was great (10 years ago)
So they dragged us along to it (5 years ago)
And I was not impressed and they said that there was only about half the floats there used to be!

So looking at the totals on the top of the page, I am staying in Rio in a couple of weeks, and obviously from the scoring I should give!

Rio Masquerade show in the sky

    a wide birth!

Or has anyone got anything good to say about it?

No need to give it a wide berth.

Its ok to see once. Have not ridden in it but guess if you do, you will get even MORE beads.

DIY for me so I can avoid the Gatwick -LAS flight.

I always hire a car which includes everything and with, car hire, flight and hotel its still less than a Virgin pacakage and much more flexible.

PS I land back in the UK on good friday just as everyone is going it seems.

    Where is that price from?

We got ours from the V Theatre Box Office with the half off coupon and I think we were around $60 for 2 VIP tickets, but without drinks.

I also think we were around $60 or $69 each for Love before they put up the prices.

It was on Travelzoo last night when I posted but can't find it any more. Got plenty of time - all the Cirque show seem to be on special on TZ until Feb so maybe March deal will appear soon.

    Thanks

.We looked into a Virgin package when we went 2 years ago
In the end we opted for DIY
Book the flights first then the hotels and remember you can cancel and rebook the hotels if a better deal comes along as long as you book direct
we saved £700 by doing it DIY
