The Fremont street experienceWhilst I have no problem at all on planes I get motion sick on boats (Ferries) but 90% of it is in my head, I can start feeling sea sick 20 miles from the port
I never am sick but just feel it really badly.
Re direct or indirect we love indirect, apart from the saving (normally) you get a break, normally some food (Philly Airport has a great food court and Chicago has a great Bar serving great food) and you get all your imigration done so when you hit your destination you just walk off the plane. We first tried it years ago as Kathy really stuggles with swollen feet on flights and the walk around helps her keep it more under control.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

I was thinking about going indirect and was wondering if the flights are less busy so possibly allowing me to have a row to myself and being able to stretch out a bit and have a sleep. I have recently been to Florida and did premium economy, but it was still a nightmare for me.
Also, when will the hotel offers start for April.
Thanks for any advice.
okay it's not looking at all likely but should the opportunity come to go to Vegas this year arise , i would look at Indirect for us this time . US Airways now operate flights out of Birmingham to USA .
London and Manchester airports are 2 hours drive away ( 4 hours there and back ) , plus Parking costs , ( we usually stay in a Airport hotel the night before so get parking in the price of that ) . so a direct flight would to my mind now have to save us £100 and and be four hours quicker in the air .
oh and i still will never board a Virgin 747 again if there is a alternative .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Neither have I, and I fly with Virgin once a month to Vegas...0 -
The Fremont street experienceWe flew back on a Lufthansa 747 from Washington last year after a mix up at KLM and the space (width wise) was tiny on the middle 4 seats. We started flying with Virgin back in the early 90's when they were more expensive than normal but you got more room and better service but stopped in the early 2000's when they started trying to compete on price, the service and space went down with the price.
Plus having to drive 4 hours down to London to get on a plane and fly up and turn out over Manchester does my head in. Nope AA or US airways from manchester gets my money everytime.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

Oh, no...that flight map is the worst thing in the world if you're already feeling it's taking forever. I used to do the same and I swear I start cursing that stupid little plane icon.watching it makes the time go so much more slowly. Now I may check it on occasion but I turn it off after...even if I'm watching something on my handheld if the flight map is on the screen I'll look up at it every few minutes out of habit. My advice really is to turn it off.

If we go straight to Vegas we still prefer to go direct on Virgin...but having recently flown indirect with a stop (via Chicago) to visit family I can see a big difference in the Virgin 747s and the planes used by other indirect carriers or at least AA...the 747s are getting really old and worn compared to those used on at least some of the indirect routes...and at least with AA, the planes we've been on on the London to Chicago leg are all configured better - 2-5-2 which probably sucks if you're in the 5, but is awesome if you're a couple and pick your seats early enough to get a pair on the side. With Virgin you have to book really, really, really early to have a chance at the few pairs at the back - and on some planes they now sell those seats as upgrades...so you're likely stuck with a random stranger next to you. Being a couple in a pair of seats on your own is so worth it to us. Plus the fact that you can't remove the handset for the entertainment system on the 747s is annoying as heck (though makes it harder to get that flight map up)

There are 3 of us so the 3-4-3 configuration suits us much better2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

aaaaah! Yes, OK, I can totally see that a 3-4-3 configuration would be preferrable for you...absolutely. I still think the Virgin 747s are relatively rundown compared to other carriers, but we've not had any issues at all with the flight crew or otherwise which some people have...so we'll possibly be sticking with Virgin when we go to Vegas without a stop en-route.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
