Correct, nothing like Vegas for following a fad.:D
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Hi i planning to go to vegas towards the end of may 20th until the 27th , found out its memorial day weekend ! . How busy , mad is vegas during this time ?
I was there for Memorial Day last year and it was a crazy place to be. The first three days of your trip won't be too bad (Weds, Thurs, Fri) but from Friday night the strip will be a sea of humanity. We were out of there on the Sunday of the weekend so I can't tell you when it'll quieten down but would reccomend making advance bookings for meals during the weekend.

Also as mentioned above the room prices will rise big time for that weekend, I would get a booking in reasonably quickly (one that is refundable) and keep checking prices every couple of days to see if the prices go down, I think I saved over a hundred dollars doing it that way for the Friday and Saturday nights.

It may be busy, but hey you'll still be in Vegas!!

    Hope that helps.

Memorial day weekend quietens down on Monday evening. A lot of Californians travel over just for the weekend and they have to be back to work on Tuesday.

This year will be our third Memorial weekend, and to be honest it is very quiet from Monday afternoon onwards that week. We tend to avoid the strip Memorial weekend, have a change of pace, and search out some of the outlying casinos. They are never as busy as the strip properties.

    Hope that helps.

Ain't that the truth...we're going over a 120,000 person convention this year, but we knew it when we booked. I think that if you KNOW it will be really crowded before you go, that's 1/2 the battle as you can be prepared for it...it's the poor souls who had no idea it was a holiday, major sporting event or big convention and have nothing in place in terms of reservations or plans to cope - thinking they'd just wing it when they got there - those are the people who suffer.

We've already figured we'll either make dinner reservations anywhere we plan to eat that will take reservations, or eat early or late...any shows we want to see we'll plan to see before the convention starts, or pre-book before we go if during the convention period. We'll also plan to do what pebbles suggested and leave our side trips to the outlying areas until the convention dates to get us out of the craziness. :)

Why wouldn't he be keen? It is a great 2-3 hours fun and cheap with it. Make sure you use the $5 off voucher on the site, and yes you will need to book in advance, the tour is very popular now, just look at the reviews on trip adviser, not one less than 5 stars. They are also going to be on the cover of Vegas Now next month so that will make it a shoe in that it will get very busy.

Think I'm going to have to work on him. ;) I would be doing it for him rather than me as I really think it's something he would enjoy.

Where will I find the reviews on Trip Advisor, are they in the discussion forums or another part of the site? I rarely go on the TA forums these days as I got fed up with them, but I'm sure there are other parts of the site I've missed completely.

Also, how do you use the $5 off coupon if you pay online by CC?

I don't think you can pay online (unless they changed it since October) - I would just tell them you have the coupon from their website...they didn't actually charge our card until we got there - but we had to put the card up against the reservation by phone. They had the $5 off voucher on the counter at the place as well.

Many thanks for the link. I think I've read too much and am getting confused as you did say you phoned to pay for it! Doh!

I will have to get my Vegas planner printed off and start pencilling things in. 14 nights and I'm still having to juggle shows, etc as there are so many I'd like to see.

These are the things that I make sure that I always fit in in Vegas and everything else is "f I have time" or what "I fancy doing"

Go to one show I (or the wife) really wants to see and pay full price for it before I leave home
    Eat at the Peppermill
    Go up the Stratosphere
    See the Mirage Volcano
See the Bellagio fountains (though I missed this last time)
    Shopping at factory outlets

Have you tried using the http://www.playerrewardscard.com/ for booking. A few of us got great deals that you wouldn't be able to touch anywhere else. I got 7 nights at Paris for $470, yes that is dollars!
You would need to find one of their casinos near you and get your membership, which is free, or just book anyway and chance that you don't get asked for your card when you arrive ( which i didn't when I arrived at Caesars, which we got for $550) BTW when are you going, I think half this board is there in April.
Just had a look, random dates in april, 14-21 is $540 average $77 a night including weekends, you will not beat that, BOOK,BOOK,BOOK!!

Hey, cheers for that. Few problems though:

    1. No LCI Casino nearby
    2. Can't go earlier than 19th April due to work
    3. Don't really want to go later, can't get direct flights (BMI stopped them) and it's a B/Day & anniversary trip

Also, we've only paid £400 on top of the 'flight only' price for this 'Red Room'. When I've checked our dates, most places are quoting about $1800 !!! Got 5% cashback through my CC too, so total price was £657 each, which I can live with.

Thanks again for your help anyway.
