After much searching, I thought I had it sorted - 6 nights (14th to 20th June) flying from Manchester staying in the Encore as a birthday and anniversary treat for me and my OH. The price...... £1369 until I put my credit card details in and it jumped to in excess of £2800!!! Anyone know if this is common with Expedia - also, any advice on finding a cheaper price??? Any help is appreciated

I've never head of that happening before - unless you were looking at a per person rate initially or something? I know sometimes the rate ends up being more than quoted on the main screen, but that seems quite a jump...are you sure you didn't accidentally select any of the add-on stuff?

I don't know what flight prices are like, but you could use this to book the Encore room (resort king) for $1214.26 including tax.

Others may have better codes than that though.

No - there were definately no add on's and the price per person was quoted as £684.41 hence total cost £1368.83. I even have the print outs to prove it. I ended up speaking to Expedia and they said it was because the cost of the flight had gone up as I was in the process of booking it! Funny thing is, when I later went back into the system, the original price I'd been quoted was still there. After a lot of arguing with customer services, they eventually agreed to refund the £2800 to my credit card although initially they wanted to charge me for doing so. Will certainly make me think twice before using them again.

Thanks for the link to book the hotel room - much appreciated :T

Well, that's just crazy if they don't let you see the final price before you commit to booking and your card is charged...can that even be legal?

The same thing happened to me when I booked with Expedia in January, it was because the flight prices had gone up (as stated above). However, it did not jump up by that much and I was definately given an option to back out before my CC was charged, although it was not very clear and I nearly clicked OK before I'd read the price properly.

I think what happens is the prices shown initially are updated maybe once or twice a day but when you actually go to confirm the booking they must link to the airline's pricing and get a 'confirmed' price.

Just thinking, I wander how often the prices you look at are out of date and the true price is lower ? Maybe it pays to go direct to the airline's own website instead of using the screenscrapers or Expedia / Ebookers.

How lovely, this was the one thing that I wanted to do that we didn't get to do - they weren't letting anyone into Bellagio, a load of firetrucks, ambulances and police cars were all parked outside the main entrance so I guess something was occuring inside at the time!

All these photos are looking great, I wonder, can we set up a group photo album on one of the online photo sites where we could upload photos for everybody to see. An MSE Vegas group for example. We could put a link on page 1 so we can look at them whenever we want rather than having to go back through the pages to find them again.

    What do people think?

I've got an account on Flickr but not sure how if I could set up another one as a group, I'll have a look later tonight, anybody any ideas??

Facebook might be the easiest option as any members of a group can upload photos to the group...but I know some do not have Facebook accounts and do not want to join.

It does look like Flickr also has groups.

I am pig sick. I just checked Travel Supermarket for flight and thought I'd found a right bargain. £321 with a company called Major Travel flying with KLM/NWA, compared with the next cheapest at £443.

Clicked through to the company and still got the same price, entered my details, clicked and noticed the price had jumped to £403 each. Still the cheapest, but no way would I book with them for trying to mislead.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

We booked with them for our trip in July. Price jumped up by £10 after we had entered payment details, I know that is not as bad as yours Luci but the reason...they bumped us onto another flight. I rang to find out why, they had sold out of the flights. There was no apology, even after I pointed out they were still advertising them. I will be wary of them next time!
