I'd be surprised if you get any first-hand accounts here, I'm afraid...and I suspect that the reason there's not a lot of reports on CC is that a) a lot of people who stay there booked on a package and didn't do much research on the trip themselves, so will not have any idea that the $20 trick exists and b) a lot of people who stay there do so because it comes up as the cheapest on a lot of 3rd party hotel booking sites - so again, they probably haven't done much research and probably don't know it exists and c) a lot of people who book CC are looking for the cheapest deal and if they do know about the $20 trick, they probably don't think it's worth it to spend the extra money to try for an upgrade -they're happy with what they've got.

I mean no offense or disrespect to anyone who falls into any of those categories at all...it's just why I don't think you'll find much about upgrading at CC.

It cannot hurt to ask, of course.

No offence at all taken - I'm completely aware of the implications of CC and I did simply choose to stay there because of a shortage of pennies. Your reasoning seems to make absolute sense - I guess I'll just try and see. I'll adopt the Dr.Pepper mentality of 'whats the worse that could happen?' ;)

    Cheers,

Ah, but you don't fall into any of the categories - you know about the $20 trick and seem to be willing to try it if it might work. :)

If it happens that your booking is in the manor part of the property, would definately try to upgrade...

Great report so far Fin but PLEASE no more of that tiny font ! :)
Love the sound of that B&B -do you have photos too ?

If you're talking about the Blue Butterfly at Yosemite, we also stayed there last August and it was fantastic (think I actually recommended it to funkyfin on another thread last year).

    Here's some links:

EDIT: Just looked at funkyfin's report on Tripadvisor and they even stayed in the same room as us !

Day 12 – We woke early today at about 8:30 as we knew we had a long day at Sea World. Richard has started to develop a cold and felt pretty rotten which isn’t great. We got up and went down to the hotel lobby to pick up the complimentary breakfast! Although

Just booked an urgent appointment at my opticians after finishing Funkyfin's trip report !

That looks fantastic! I'm bookmarking it for future reference should we ever be in the area.

    AA has gone bonkers.
Flights that were £505 yesterday are £841 now (I was preparing to try to call them to see what the price increase to a 1 point qualifying fare as duchy suggested would be).
I'm hoping it's a glitch because if not it's back to Virgin for us! Sure, I know flight prices change all the time, but 66% increase in a day seems a bit dramatic.

I take it you have checked prices with netflights, kayak and opodo? Our flights are almost £100pp more booking direct with United compare with netflights.

AA were showing our flights at £575 and they are now £618.

You know, we haven't had any photographs for a few pages. I was wondering if people had different photos of all the flower displays that they put in the Bellagio. That should brighten up the pages again, i'll start with photos from my last trip in March. I think they were swapping displays over at the time, as I had English Country Garden and Japanese Gardens.

So the first one is pretty obvious.

    And some watering cans.

Anybody got anymore?? I've got some from last years trip if anybodies interested.

Sorry Luci you are correct. I lose track of everyone sometimes, anyway will be good to hook up
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
