OK help me decide here people.
We're having 4 nights added onto a Ca trip in August (Yes I know the heat will be evil was there same time last year) so the first 2 nights are booked at the Orleans-Comped and fit in nicely as the Osmonds are playing there that weekend so lots of my friends will be there. That's straightforward.
Then moving onto the Strip-no plans except pool time and I'll be doing a show at the Flamingo. I'll have my 17 year old with me so my casino time will be limited. Anyway so I don't leave him hanging around for too long the night I'm doing a show I thought the Flamingo -can get a Go room for 2nights for $170 total ( Monday & Tuesday) OR can go to Bill's next door for $100. I've stayed in the Go rooms before and love them but I'm not sure what the rooms at Bill's are like by comparison.
    Any thoughts ?

I think the 'european' pools have an age restriction of 21, but totally agree that they would keep a 17 year old boy quite happy. :)

I also agree that for kids, Excalibur is a good choice for all the kid-friendly options there and nearby...the widescreen tower rooms are meant to be pretty nice too and not dramatically more cost-wise than standard rooms.

Although, if this is an adult, a 17 year old and 3 additional kids in one room - I'm not sure if there would be an issue? I thought many standard rooms had a maximum occupancy of 4?

Thanks for all your help there. Rooms occupancy won't be an issue though as cousin will stay in hotel for one night too so only 2 kids each room. Glad I haven't told my son about the european pool yet, he'd be gutted to find out he was too young! Thanks again.

We looked at the platinum challenge but it won't work for us at the moment - as we'd only get .5 qualifying points for each mile unless we went with an unrestricted economy class fare which was about 3X as expensive as the restricted economy fare. If we ever think we'll be making 2 flights to the US within a 3-month window we will be all over it though.

I had a flight with.5 and before I booked it called aa and asked what the fare would be to bump it up to L (or whatever the 1 point earning class was) It was £30 -so it may only take one trip next year......although 2 trips in 3 months sounds quite nice ;)

As my daughter is not old enough to gamble, thought it would be a good idea to take her to a show in LV. I see the Blue Man Group are on in July when we will be there and wondered if anyone knew the cheapest way to get tickets as they seem to be about $100 to $130 on the sites I have looked at.I recall there was an offer posted on this thread for earlier this year with tickets at excellent prices so thought I would check on this board first.

Although Luxor has a far worse rating on TA. The new widescreen rooms in the Excalibur are meant to be really nice. Liked the look of the Luxor but the reviews put me off a bit

Ive stopped in th Widescreen rooms at Excalibur and they were pretty good i had no probs.

I have not stopped in a bad room in vegas and have stopped at MGM grand, Excalibur, Hooters, Casino Royale, ballys and Harrahs , I have staying in a lot worse rooms in this country.

Claire wants to ride the NYNY rollercoaster....not my idea of fun! Have decided to drop a night trip to Downtown in favour of staying on Strip.
    Lee n Claire

    Hi, guys,
I loved the NY roller coaster at night. It was wonderful to see the strip. I would have gone for the 2nd ride (there is a special offer after you do the first ride) but I had the cash in the locker. Just a note that my OH had a bit of trouble afterwards since he wasn't completely glued to the seat, and had a few bruises on his shoulders. (He bruises easily.) Try to sit as tight as possible. It was a bit violent I have to admit, but totally worth it! So do consider accompanying your OH.
I was sorry that there was no working ride in the Sahara (at least from the outside). Will have to investigate next time. ;)

So looks like Virgin will have some competition in the direct to Vegas market come the fall.

Interesting - the arriving at 5:10pm thing isn't exciting...but the 777s is...and the 7pm departure from Vegas is.

just priced up a BA direct flight in November, coming out at £721

    times

outbound LHR 15.30 arriving LAS at 18.20

return from LAS 20.20 arrive LHR at 14.05

I am going to research this a bit over on flyertalk, because I think that I saw a work round this.

The workaround you probably saw was to fly into Canada as your gateway and then take a connecting flight to the US but if you find anything else I'd be interested too :) I've moved over to Delta this year (Gatwick flights and nicer planes now they have NW's airbuses) but still have status with AA for now too.

I had the same thing - and a terrible head/neckache for ages afterwards...It is a fun ride, but too brutal for me.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
