    Sew,

Thats very comprehensive information you've done there on booking rooms, i'm sure it'll come in very handy. Perhaps some of us should have it saved on our computers so when the question gets asked again (and again!!) we can copy it in (with reference to you, of course!!)

Thanks very much for taking the time to do it.

Well, the time has come!! We leave on friday morning for 5 nights, staying at Wynn. We booked flight and hotel, seperatly, through Virgin and have flights for £1200 and hotel for £800. We now know that we could have booked for less, but we have been planning this trip since we left the last time 2 years ago and booked the day the dates were released!! Excited much!!:j

We have a car booked through netflights (see I do listen!!) for the 5 days and are planning on visiting Hoover Dam/Lake Mead. Does anyone have any tips for us regarding this trip? I have bought the TomTom maps for Nevada so we shouldnt get lost......I did say shouldnt!!

I know that I am a bit of a lurker on this site and have taken much on board from what I have read from others trip reports, but I am prepared to submit one if anyone will be interested when we return.

Also it is our 10th Wedding anniversary while we are out there and have been looking at a lot of restauants for a special dinner and will probably go for Stratta at Wynn, has anyone any experiences of dining there? I know a lot of people have reccomended various restaurants on the strip, but I am a fussy !!!!!! when it comes to my food and the Wife isnt, so it was hard to find somewhere that would suit both palettes! Italian won the race there.

One last thing. We are staying at Gatwick Sofitel the night before so will be using twilight check in but will be late in the day around 7.30-8 pm Would we still have a chance at an exit seat at that time? and what sort of price do they charge?

    Thanks for reading :D

Good point, do you people feel that LV without gambling is a waste of time?
Last year we spent a week there, saw a couple of shows, did GC trip, shopped and generally people watched and probably did less than 20 minutes slot playing the whole time.
We didn't feel that we had missed out on anything by not gambling, and enjoyed the 'buzz' of being in Vegas

Erm.. not a waste of time as such but a missed opportunity

    Las Vegas newbie here!
Am hope you seasoned Las Vegas MSErs can please help me to understand how a smartervegas code works? I've got my eye on using the current MKT233 code and it mentions a $30 upgrade per night to a suite. How do I redeem that? On the booking? At the MGM when I arrive?
Also looking at the Wynn offer - am guessing the Wynn is more luxurious? (the offer is easier to understand tho!)

Grateful for any tips to understand this! I'm due to be there in early June.

    Easy !

Get onto smartervegas, find the hotel you want, find the deal you want and click the 'book now using promotion code ' button.

And yes Wynn is waaaaay more luxurious than MGM.

Dont get me wrong, we like MGM. Our suite there last time was massive, the price was right, BUT it all seemed a little shabby to me.

Vegas is pretty easy to navigate . you can usually see your hotel from miles away so just point your towards it .

Your sat nav will come in handy going to Hoover dam , but even that is pretty easy to get to .

as for exit seats , anyones guess i'm afraid . if you cannot alter you check in time , then there is no point worrying about it .

Have a blast .....and yes we would love a trip report when you get home :T

KatyKat, you did do some gambling right ??

If all you did was shopping and eating you could have done that back home !!!

A lot of us would agree that Steve Wynn et al are all wealthy enough without us contributing further. You don't have to look further than Tusser's most famous saying.

Firstly I hope that you have a smashing time I really do, you will love Wynn I was there for my 3 month wedding anniversary ;-) (we were in Mirage for our wedding night) and loved it to bits, just make sure that you do not have an aversion to being spoiled as they will do it ;-) $20 trick worked for us there to get a panarama room.

Hoover dam a good day trip http://vegasuncovered.wordpress.com/2009/02/17/day-trip-from-las-vegas-to-the-hoover-dam/

I may be wrong on this as I last flew with Virgin in 2002 so maybe one fo the good folks here can correct me if I am wrong but when we checked in I was tryuing to get an upgrade from Prem to Upper and I was told that I could only do this or change seats in the morning check in as tyeh twighlight checkin was handled by Gatwick Handling and not VA. AS I said this was 7 years ago so mayeb somone can correct me if I am wrong.

oh just to wet your lips my pghotos of Wynn http://www.flickr.com/photos/10135737@N07/sets/72157604943032594/

Twilight check in is open noon till 9pm, if there are any exit row seats still available when you check in, they are usually £75 each, one way...or an extra legroom seat for £30 each

Anyone seen this Ipod Touch thread:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1681609&highlight=touch

Great buy for £91 / £125, even if it is 1st Gen. Plays videos, music, photos and built-in wifi for your Vegas hols. I wouldn't be without mine, it's great to pass the time away on long flights.
