The Secret GardenFlying from Edinburgh to Newark then on to Vegas with continental on the 21st Feb. The quote was through Expedia. there is a couple of hours between the flight, but last time we had this in Newark we went in to New york for the day. This time we would probably check out Newark for a couple of hours as the Airport has very little to occupy your time.
In terms of the hotels you looked at - MGM & T.I. - we liked the MGM & if you are happy with that price then it's a good offer. We haven't stayed at the T.I. so I can't comment on it.
We're trekking down to Manchester for the night before so we have train/bus fares & a nights accomodation on top & just the additional travel time too. I will consider Expedia next time though.
I didn't even think about going from Gla or Edi via Newark - I wish I did as the prices for my dates 11th March for 7 nights are superb. For hotels such as Venetian & Wynn are £1323 & £1360 respectively all in - for this hotel class is superb!!
I had a quick look at the flights from Manchester with Thomas Cook & they don't seem to start until 4th March which doesn't suit your needs.
I also had a wee lool at Expedia using your dates, assuming it was 7 night stay. Did you notice that Mandalay Bay is only £77 more expensive for your stay?
I haven't stayed there personally but there are a few folk on here who like it & you could ask for more info - obviously if it's within you budget.0 -
My brother has informed me that we are staying with Uncle Donald this time (Trump Tower). Has anyone stayed here?
I'm pretty sure it's the place i always mistake for Mandalay Bay because they look the same on the outside. How close is it to the strip? My brother and his wife have a kid, so they don't mind being off-strip, but I'll want to do some gambling on the strip. Am I right in thinking TI is the closest casino?Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

The Bellagio FountainsI keep dreaming about that chicken pie..........
For anyone who has been to Vegas could you list your top 5 restaurants as this would be a big help.
Thanks
Here's my top 5!
My fave is L'atelier de Joel Robuchon at MGM. Fantastic food and cheaper than the London or Paris branch. His pommes puree is to die for. If you have the money you could try Monsier Robuchon's other place next to it but that is very pricey:eek:
I loved the Mesa Grill in Caesars. I didn't have high expectations but I had the most fantastic brunch and they serve the best mojitos I've ever had.
Daniel Boulud at the Wynn. Great French food, wine list and service. If you're there in summer sit outside on the terrace by the lake (good view for the lake show with the bizarre frog!).
Morrels at the Palazzo. I didn't know what to expect as I'd not read any reviews but it was superb. Good menu and wine selection and great service again.
My final one is a bit different. In N Out Burger! This has got to be the best junk food in the world. You'll need a car to get to it (or you could get a taxi) and its on the other side of the freeway behind New York New York.0 -
The Bellagio Fountainsdo you think its value for money buying the book to get the coupons?
It depends on the person and how many coupons you will use really...so have a look at the coupons, get an idea of those you would use and the value of them and then you can decide...some are for off strip locations so having a car makes them better value.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

It's right on the strip...across the street and slightly north of Wynn, next to Fashion Show Mall...so Wynn or TI would be closest casinos.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I stayed there once but dont think I would go back. Although its very similar to the Signature in that its all condos, non smoking, no casino on site, and a $15 a day resort fee.
Trump is slightly off strip, about a 10 minute walk to the Wynn. The Fashion Show Mall is close by, you do get the noise coming across from there sometimes, and from the freight trains that pass every hour during the night, if you are a light sleeper try to get a room facing the mall.0 -
The Bellagio Fountainsdo you think its value for money buying the book to get the coupons?
I always get both for my 2 week trip, but I do have a car and use it to get to all the places off strip to make most of the coupons and def get my moneys worth.
If you dont have a car and dont want to venture far, it may not be worth it0 -
The Bellagio FountainsOK,
Here are a few random pics of the last trip (click thumbnail for larger picture)
Tracy relaxing at the Admirals Club JFK
De-icing of our plane during snowstorm at ORD on the way home
Great plane watching area in lower car park of Town Square
Limoncello pie at Cheesecake Factory Forum shops
Rib-eye special at Austins Steakhouse Texas Station (I have had better to be honest)
Me and Grand Club sandwich with a side of macaroni cheese at Grand Lux Palazzo (look at my shirt stretching, this is what happens after a week in Vegas) Did not rate this much, the bread was so hard that it made my gums bleed trying to bite into it.
Bellagio conservatory Christmas display
Wonderful registration area of Paris (don't forget to go for the LCI deal $470 for 7 nights)
Calico hills at Red Rock, notice the skull shaped rock formation behind me
Finally a gratuitous picture of my lovely wife in the lift area of Augustus tower Caesars PalaceThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
