Sorry didn't have much time to post updates. People ask us what we find to do in Vegas and I find it hard to list the things that keep us busy. But we leave the room at 8am in the morning and don't return till about 5. Then out for the evening at 7-8 and don't get in till 1.
Mystery tour was great, we were looking for heart shaped stones, if anyone was doing the same then they are not planing to change the mystery till August.
Really impressed with Encore, fab looking casino and more cocktail waitresses than we could handle.
Now my biggest gripe. The drinks service is just getting ridiculous. None of the casinos except Encore were worth the effort. I spent an hour playing craps in Planetho without one drink. Palazzo and Venetian have changed all the bar tops to $1 minimum, and in the Venetian we over heard the bartender telling a lady she had to bet $3 minimum per hand to get a free drink!!
In TI there is a sticker on all the 25 cent machines at the bar saying you have to bet maximum credits for a comped drink. while sitting there the barman told a guy that had been sat there playing max credits that he would not be able to comp him anymore because he saw him drop his bets for a bit.
Must mention our venture off strip to stay in the Cali for a night. NEVER AGAIN!!! I am a strip snob and proud of it. It was our fist visit downtown for some years and now I remember why. Will report more tomorrow
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Here are some pics of the PH standard room we had. Click to enlarge.

th_Vegasphotos253.jpg View of the Paris tower and pool

th_Vegasphotos257.jpg View from door/hallway. (Two queens)

th_Vegasphotos254.jpg View of the Bellagio fountains.

th_Vegasphotos255.jpg View from the window into the room.

th_Vegasphotos258.jpg View of the desk area in the room.

There was a flat screen TV, a safe, drawers and a hanging area in the cabinet opposite the bed. The bathrooms are large, but as of last May hadn't been updated and still had the same taps and counter tops. The bath tub is huge, and there is a separate walk in shower. The toilet is in it's own little room. Hope that helps someone.

    Did you enjoy PH?

Should I try upgrade even though I got such a good rate?

We liked the look of it last time and it's in a great location so at less than £50 a night we had to grab it!

We got an upgrade at PH in August, for $20 tip. Managed to get a Bellagio Fountain view, as shown here:

My trick now when checking in is first to ask where the toilet is. Then, when my wife heads off there, I politely ask if there are any upgrades available as I would like to treat her if possible. Not sure if this helps, but 2 out of 2 so far !

I don't have a top five restaurant list as such, only been to Vegas the once (so far, desperate to go back though!!).

If you like steak I can definititely reccomend Craftsteak at the MGM, it is a bit expensive but the best meal I have ever had. (Steak has not passed my lips since then, it was that good!!)

I will always fight the corner of the MGM, stayed there last May and loved the place, I too know the West Wing shortcut and used it extensively, the place is big but when you get used to the layout it is fine.

Exactly the same here...half the time no idea what we did all day, but we had a great time doing it! One of the things I love about Vegas - the ability to lose whole days just mooching about.

Glad that you liked the mystery adventure - we were also heart shaped stones and I am so sad if they are not changing the mystery until August...was hoping it would change before we went in April so we could go again. Ah, welll....future trip it is.

Welcome back and really look forward to the report!
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

pebblesmax & tingtong - thanks for taking the time to post the pics.

I think £143 is a great price for the 3 nights & as I said we wanted to try it anyway.

Gives us a great central location too - I will try the $20 upgrade - don't ask you don't get right!!

My partner thinks we're staying in the Paris for the 1st nights - wait til I tell the taxi driver we're off to the Venetian :rotfl:

Sounds just like us, even the times are almost the same !

And welcome back to Sunny Britain.

    Hi,

We're going in March but are going down to Manchester for the flight, out of curiosity what date are you travelling, from what airport & who was the quote with?

    David

Flying from Edinburgh to Newark then on to Vegas with continental on the 21st Feb. The quote was through Expedia. there is a couple of hours between the flight, but last time we had this in Newark we went in to New york for the day. This time we would probably check out Newark for a couple of hours as the Airport has very little to occupy your time.
