just got back so working my way up from page 160... jeez - worst thing about going away is losing track on this thread - at least i got to go to Vegas tho :p  (now i have to put up with you guys rubbing it in that you're just going there!!!)

stayed @ Paris 'Red Room' (5nts) and Mandalay Bay '750GR' (3nts)

will give a full review soon anyways :D had a BRILLIANT time (apart from being sick :( (not booze related...!)

Would like to see Mell B in her new Peepshow production at Planetaladdinwood in a couple of weeks. Could anyone in Vegas before then have a look and see if they are available at tix4tonite.
yes, was definitely there on Tuesday - prices started at $66 from what i recall and there were 3 tiers of pricing (can't remember exactly tho)

we were going to see it but ... ummm ... didn't lol (wanted to see some reviews first as it's still in preview and a little pricey for me to be the guinea pig!)

    ---

i see mention of the Miss USA finals - the girls are parading about all over the place :) you'll see them walking around with millions of cameras, even if you don't get to see the finals!! we saw the current Miss USA with them all in Planet Ho last Thursday

    ---

re: Hatton - i'm sure I saw signs saying it was on PPV but i can't remember where!!! I think it was when we were walking through TI but not sure :(

(just read c l a i r e saying MB has it on... probably saw it there (being as tho we stayed there!)

    Hey everyone,

We're off to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks to get married.

Can anyone please recommend any rock/metal bars/clubs or anywhere playing live music (preferably rock).

I know there is obviously the Hard Rock but any other suggestions would be much appreciated. I've tried googling but am not having much luck.

    Thanks

    Daniel

check House of Blues @ MB - they may have a good live act on when you're there - they have their own website and are also on TicketMaster

You will not eat better and the choice is enormous . However see if you can make arrangments in advance as we have always had to queue to get in there .
the dining room is very nice . IMO only Planet Hollywood Spice Market Buffet surpasses The Bellagio Buffet , and only because $ for $ it is better value , Spice Market has very high quality and choice but is just pipped by The Bellagio buffet .
i can't see how, as standards for food are so high in America alone, let alone Vegas!, but I genuinely believe Spice Market buffet made me ill - i was sick the following night and felt crap all the next day :( gutted - we got in just before they closed (9:30pm) and they were clearing stuff away whilst we were trying to put it on our plates... the choice was not there and i felt the standard was not as good as Mandalay (lunch) Buffet....

    ---

re: Cafe Bellagio --- if you can book , definitely do it!!! massive breakfast queues there!! we have eaten there and can see why (even though it was at 3am , the food was lovely!)

    ---

re: cheap PAYG mobile phones, Walmart definitely had some for $29.99 - can't remember what they were and if credit was included but remember seeing them as i dashed for the booze section ;)

    ---

Stoneman - hope you get the Dodge Charger! :) we booked one but ended up being 'upgraded' to a Chrysler 300 :( absolutely gutted :(

    ---

little teaser of the view from our dirt cheap F&F ($20 tip) room @ Paris (before i go back to bed ;))

    any questions? :D

Thats great as long as your car hire is with Dollar. I know Carhire 3000 use them but netflights have moved over to Thrifty now (they had for my next trip anyway). I have never had a car allocated by Dollar in the 20 odd times we have been. Always either been Alamo or Thrifty

I'm a Thrifty Blue Chip member too. I think all of the car hire companies have the memberships, and I'm not sure, but Continental's One Pass works for Hertz or Avis.

    I've had a charger.
From what I saw there is the normal charger and a "super charged" version. I've had a couple of the normal ones and they are nothing special at all.
The pimpmobile 300's are far better

    Great photo by the way

Great pre-review nvh. Really looking forward to the full version.

One week today I should be on a plane over the pond.

Well you know Steff theoretically it should be the GC because of the Palms which is one of my favourites as well as the nicer rooms -but no the Orleans still wins for me - I think in part because I find their staff consistently nice and friendly

    Hi duchy,

I have to agree that the staff are great - everyone is smiling and in a good mood and by the end of our 14 night stay a few of them knew our names by heart and even our preferred order at the buffet and at Seattles Best!!! The poker room there is also excellent in my opinion and I quite like that its far enough out to be a little quieter than the strip BUT with having the shuttle it is easy enough to get there when you want to.

FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN PLAYING TOURNAMENT POKER
The Orleans have just emailed me with details of their Orleans Open Festival for 2009 - it runs May 9th to May 18th and looks good - have a look at their website if you are interested!! Last year it was on in June/July and was great. My other half was lucky enough to win one of them so it brings back good memories for me :) They do poker rate rooms during that time too - off hand I think it is $30 weekdays and £70 weekends - again, details should be on their website.

I have never visited the Palms - will have to remedy that during my next trip!
    Thanks for your advice duchy!

Hey, I own a "pimpmobile" 300C!! Know what you mean though, ours looks like Snoop Dog should be getting out of it, tinted windows all around, and chipped to give it 270 BHP and 700Mn's of torque. Mind the kids run out of the way when they dawdle in the road trying your patience and I put my foot down:D
We hired a 300 in Vegas and it was so basic that we won't bother again. Just want to see what the Charger is like compared, and of course we need the room for all the luggage
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

We looked at that but the last time we queued there was no-one at the blue diamond counter section and non of the guys called out if there were any Blue chip members in the line.

    nvh,
Was it a tip that got you into a Red room? We are allocated a regular room but am going to try my luck for a Red, will go with $50 as we are staying 8 nights. Worth a punt as we are only paying just over £300 for the duration.

Well I'd rather pay a few quid more to know that I'm getting a Dollar car (as opposed to Thrifty), then I can skip the queue. As it's free to join, I can't see any sensible reason not to.
