hmm, sounds like we got a right bogus room!! check-in lady must have really hated me... i tried to give her $20 for a good view, and she pushed it back and said 'no need for that here'... sounds like she found the crappest strip view she could (8th floor was the 'best' she could do)

something i've just remembered - which was quite cool - when we were at Detroit, i got randomly selected for this (despite Detroit not being mentioned on this article - they definitely did it to me!!... hope they liked my boxers! haha - if i had known i would've worn posh ones!)

They had to search my socks by hand though as "the feet bit wasn't working properly" (either that or they enjoy tickling people!)

Those body scanners are now being used in Vegas Terminal 2, not sure about Terminal 1 as I havent used it

made the security lines quite long though, as they have to wait a minute or so after you have gone through to check the scan picture

When we checked in the guy in front of us had booked a suite, with a connecting room for his children. He had even phoned that morning to check it was okay, however it wasn't available and he was given one room on a low floor, one very unhappy person. I don't know what happened but he demanded to see the manager.

What day did you arrive, we got there on Wednesay 8th?

Haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread too much, but wanted to say that the Encore rooms are fantastic! Loved it - definately a step up from Wynn even - the bathrooms are very similar, the beds and bedding are similar - but having a mostly separate lounge area was great. and thanks to stoneman (and Maverick, I think) for mentioning Sugar and Ice served food - had the greatest chili cheese dog ever there last night! I couldn't see where you could view the Lake of Dreams, but the waterfalls, etc. were really nice and relaxing - great spot and I would never have stopped there if I hadn't read more about it on this board.

Also, my husband had a big win our first night (one requiring tax paperwork, but only just...and all on a $1 bet on a slot) - our biggest win ever...so that was an excellent start to the trip!

Tried to search the thread but couldnt find anything that can help me, I've been to Vegas in 2003 but the reason I'm posting is that my daughter is getting married in the Little Chapel of the West in October 2010

Does anyone know if Tesco Vouchers can help towards the cost, I've had a look through the new Tesco deals catalogue and all I can really see is deals for Florida.

As she;s my only daughter and her and her fiance insist on paying for evrything themselves, I would like to do something special for her

What I was thinking of was paying for them to have their wedding night in the Bellagio

But .......I would look forward to seeing suggestions from all you seasoned Vegaser's

Yes...here's what to do.

Go on Virgin Holidays site, click on complete holiday, click on USA and scroll down to Las Vegas. Put in your dates and duration you wish to go.


Then have a looksy a the list that includes flights and hotels, prices are there.


Click on continue to booking and total amount will be there.

IMPORTANT when using Tesco vouchers NO DISCOUNTS (eg 5% or 10% for booking online etc) can be used.


Get the price of your holiday. It has to be for a minimum 7 night stay and over £500.


Then go to Tesco site, convert your vouchers by clicking holidays section in clubcard deals and then scroll down to Virgin .

Click here and convert your vouchers. Try not to do too high amounts at one time as this may activate 'security checks' from Tesco and this will mean it'll take more than a couple of weeks for youe vouchers to arrive as opposed to 5 ish days.

Suggested amount to convert would be less than a £1000 at a time, say do batches of £500 (converted rate)...that's what I do.


Then when you have all your converted vouchers in front of you, ring Virgin Holidays with your dates and get your quote again, you will have to then tell them your voucher numbers over the phone in order for them to book your holiday.

You then have 3 days to get your vouchers to Virgin to secure your booking, suggest posting next day delivery with insurance.


Please also remember that extras like transfers and car hire cannot be paid with the vouchers. They will also ask for a deposit if not paid in full with vouchers and you will have to pay fuel charges.

You can pay for the V Room at Gatwick (if flying from there) with vouchers.

Don't forget to join the Virgin Flying Club (free online at Virgin) to collect airmiles.

The only thing I would point out is that Virgin Holidays usually work out quite a bit more expensive than booking it directly with airlines / hotels.

If you have enough vouchers to pay for most of the holiday, then it's probably a good idea. However, if you are using them just to save a few hundred pounds then you will no doubt be able to save that amount (off Virgin's price) just by shopping around, and by reading this thread.

Perhaps the benefit of booking with Virgin is you can normally book the holiday further in advance, whereas scheduled flights are not released until 11 months before the date of the flight.

EDIT: It might be worth doing a bit of a comparison between Virgin & booking yourself for the same time frame this year. Get a rough price off Virgin, then price up the flights on https://www.kayak.co.uk. You will then have an idea how much the accommodation part is costing. There are some great hotels in Vegas at the moment but as for next year it's anyone's guess.
