Maybe you can help or maybe you can just point me in the right direction?
Boyf booked our flights separately- work is paying for his, he is paying for mine.
He didn't want his boss knowing that I was going (even though, besides boyf paying for my flight- a gift for the 2 birthdays that he missed- I am paying my own way) which has annoyed me a little already if I'm honest-boyf is high enough up that he could take me with but his boss is a bit of a lad and to be honest I get the impression he would much prefer if my boyf was single:mad: and so it's better for their relationship if he at least appears to not be that bothered about me being around.
So anyway, I'll get to the point!
It now means that are seats aren't together. We originaly wanted to upgrade my seat with his airmiles and his with cash but couldn't get any upgradable flights for a few weeks. We were told when booking to check online 48 hours before and change our seats online- well it's now 48hours before and there are no seats available!
I can't bear the thought of a 10 hour flight sitting next to some stranger.
Does anyone know any way we might be able to sit together?
Are you flying Virgin ? Virgin keep back roughly 20% of econmy seats until day of checkin i.e you cant book these seats on line . if you get to Twilight checkin EARLY the day before , you will be seated together , rest assured . My daughter works for virgin . what are your dates will look how busy it is for you . regarding premium upgrade if there is space on the day cash is king and miles are second , again I can look for you how open it is0 -

I've never flown long haul before, in fact I haven't flown much at all, it's my first holiday in 5 years so I have no idea about anything really!
Ok i've googled twilight check in, I have to check in the day before. In person??
If it were me, I would try checking in online 24 hours before your flight - see if you can manage to get two seats together at that time (of course since others may be checking in online at the same time, and since the two of you will have different booking references, it still may not work but worth a try). If not, I agree with the others regarding twilight check-in or just getting there early on the day of departure and asking if you can be moved to be sat next to each other.
I think you said you have Airmiles - not Virgin miles to use? Not sure if they would be of any use in upgrading on the day.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Does anyone know any way we might be able to sit together? The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Thought I'd post the figures for my upcoming trip sharing the MS tips we've used.
Flying Good Friday NW from Heathrow for 4 nights
Night before Travelodge at Feltham £19 in the TL Easter sale Bus to Heathrow £1 pp £ 2
(breakfast & early lunch at Heathrow are mystery shops so free)
Flight NW with ebookers found with kayak.co.uk £330 with tax & will earn miles with Delta
2 nights Friday & Saturday Flamingo Go room $75 p nt (got lower rate with players card)
2 nights Orleans comped with $50 food credit
(would have preferred to do Orleams first but deal wasn't available)
Still checking for better deals but under £400 a head for 4 nights is pretty good.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

The Bellagio FountainsDuchy - sounds like a good deal to me!!Flying Good Friday NW from Heathrow for 4 nights
We're also flying Good Friday and aren't sure if we should expect chaos (my assumption is we should) and to plan to get there even earlier than I normally make us...the only bank holiday we've ever flown on was Boxing Day and that was dead.we will have used online check-in and we can use the PE check-in/bag-drop which should make it a bit easier...but last time we flew from LHR it was a mess...the Virgin kiosk check-in along the queues seems to rather negate the benefit of checking in online because almost everyone was just checking bags (and those who hadn't checked in online held up the queues to drop bags while they checked in at the kiosks)...such an odd system that was...but then I'm not sure how terrible security will be on the start of a long weekend.

The Bellagio FountainsWe need to know what airline you are going with, how could we possibly help you without knowing that. Seeing that you mentioned "airmiles" I assume it is not Virgin
You're right...I had assumed Virgin based on something somewhere...but now wonder if I just made that up in my head.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

NW fly from T4 so we're hoping it won't be too bad. We're getting there mega early in the slim hope we might get onto the earlier flight out -worth a try as we're staying nearby the night before anyway and our flight is busier than the early one. Never hurts to ask (whilst brandishing the Delta gold card
)
