The Bellagio FountainsI know we had a brief mention of FairFX Currency Cards a couple of pages ago, but as the exchange rate has gone up for a little bit, thought it may be worth bringing it to your attention again (in case it dips!):
Just noticed £7.50 Quidco if you go through them...and if you buy more than £500 FairFX doesn't charge the set-up fee...I think I read before that the set-up fee is £10...so the opodo link may be best if someone's buying less than £500...or Quidco might be best if buying more than £500.
I'm really considering this - though hubby is concerned whether the funds are safe if FairFX goes bust...so am looking into that.
Edited for update - they have sent me an email confirming that the funds are safe as they are actually deposited with Newcastle Building Society...
Found the whole email someone had posted elsewhere:

The Bellagio FountainsI wouldn't trust an email to cancel a hotel. It says on some hotel sites that they only accept cancellations via their website reservation system or by phone.
I had to call MGM to cancel and I think I got the number from their website. Took about 5 mins to answer and the clerk wasn't too friendly or helpful as she wouldn't give me a cancellation number or email, but it was cancelled.
Try 001 877 880 0880 or 001 800 929 1111. I think it was the second one that I rang.
You still cannot look at or cancel a reservation online. It hasn't worked for months and it's about time they fixed it seeing as their confirmation email says you can cancel via the website.
I rung and got through, got cut off, rung again, they couldn't hear me, rung again and finally the booking was cancelled.
This time next week I am on a plane, unfortunatley I've being saying that since midday and will probably still be saying it at midnight, what a long flight it is.0 -
The Bellagio FountainsNot sure if this is on here anyway but it was posted on the $ thread and it is very appropriate for this thread.

The Bellagio FountainsOk - I did it...I bought a FairFX card for £500...as a trial run...it's a better rate that I can get it my really great rate place in London anyway, but hubby is still nervous about committing much more to an unknown (to us) system...I'm sure it will be fine but can understand that he doesn't want to put all the eggs in one basket.
Thanks for the note on the rate, nvh - my place is at $1.415 - so a pretty significant difference to get $1.44.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I will ring MGM or PO CC (or both) tomorrow to make sure they have cancelled refunded. I have never had problems with any other hotel in Vegas, another reason to add to my long list of why not to go the MGm again!!!0 -

Shame you've got to go to Vegas so soon.
But hey, at least the exchange rate is shaping up for your trip!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
The Volcano @ MirageI was thinking that even a limo to and from MGM probably wouldn't cost £100 and might even include a tour of the strip. I assume this was Virgin Holidays as they tend to be a lot sneakier than Virgin Atlantic.
It reminds me of the people who book with Virgin Holidays instead of doing a DYI because 'but it includes airport transfers and I don't want to have to worry about that'.
The rates that Virgin charge for rooms is no less shocking a few years ago we were looking at the Virgin brochure and they wanted £55 per night each person for a room at Luxor mid week at eth time we were paying $49 per night per room !Its Vegas time -no longer :T a five year old has changed Vegas time to Orlando time0 -

Hi,
Have you double-checked that? I'm going to Vegas with Virgin next week (booked in Jan) & we were charged £7 per adult? Its clearly shown on my invoice & I've got the "excursion" tickets with my flight details this week.
It seems like a bit of a mistake to me! We're staying at PH & I don't think the location altered the price.
Suzi xxEverything I wanna do is either illegal, immoral or fattening! lol :rotfl:0 -
Hi All
Has anyone flown to Vegas with Air France yet? They keep popping up on my searches for MAN-LAS with decent prices and good transfer times but not sure I want a repeat of my experience flying to Vegas with MyTravel if they're rubbish!0
