    Morning guys,

I was wondering if i could get some advice about booking a Las Vegas get away.

A few of us (4) are thinking of going away for my brothers 21st birthday (30/04/2009).

We were thinking of going away for 7 days - maybe leave on the 29th? I don't think it's massively that we arrive on his birthday but it would be nice.

We'd like to stay in one of the nicer hotels - MGM etc.

I was wondering if anyone can suggest on how to find the cheapest deal?

Is it best booking the flight and hotel seperately or will a package deal work out better?

Can anyone suggest any tips - we were hoping to spend no more than £500-600 for the flight and accomodation.

Meals on plane would be nice but we're happy to cater for ourselves once we are there.

    Many thanks in advance!

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I wouldn't arrive on his birthday as it'll be quite late by then-probably be more fun to have the whole birthday actually in Vegas.
check out https://www.kayak.co.uk for flights and then price the hotel seperately https://www.travelzoo.com has some good prices-that should start you off . Stick to on strip hotels for a first visit.

    Thanks Duchy.

I checked out the promotions on fatwallet and the Luxor has a superb deal for 7 days if we were to go on May 1st (approx. $55 per night)

Finding a return flight is a killer though! - I think the best i'll get IF im lucky is about £297 inc. Tax.

I think the combined price will work out pretty good.

Hi - I flew AC to Vegas via Vancouver last August. I had left it late to book so the direct flights with Virgin were a lot more expensive. I was quite impressed with AC to be honest - the plane from LHR had a 2-4-2 layout.

The connection was pretty smooth and although not as good as going direct, we did take care of the immigration formalities whilst in Vancouver so arrived in Vegas as an internal flight and just strolled out to the taxi rank.

Thanks for that- I dont know if I want to go direct with Virgin and have to suffer the aircraft ive heard about. I may look at doing a connection in JFK,LA or San Fran Instead.

The AC flights were about £370 and they have some of the newest 77W around from what Ive read.

is max withdrawal from a US cash machine $500?

(please say yes... please say yes... please say yes... ;) )

I thought you were only restricted by your own bank's daily limit? We were able to each take out $600 from a joint account when the rate was just over $2/£1 as our daily limit with the Nationwide is £300 each per day from an ATM.

Donny and Marie doesn't discount so yes I'd suggest booking that one before you go as you're not saving anything by waiting. Go for central seats some of the side seats have restricted view (I think I sent you a link to a decent seating plan) and call to book to get specific seat numbers and to make sure they add your Total Rewards number as you get points for show tickets.

Thanks for that. I just need to get round to booking the things I need to book in advance.

And thanks for the info on using the TR card as I didn't realise you get points for buying show tickets. We don't play enough for the points to make any difference, but I might as well get them if I'm entitled to them.

We won't be going for the most expensive seats. We usually go for the cheapest or next tier. I'd be bankrupt if we went for the most expensive seats with the amount of shows we see each trip!

You'll be fine anywhere-although try for central and personaly I'd not go balcony.
I thought the same about TR but with lowest tier and 750 points (mostly from shows) I got a far better room deal with the card number in than without over Easter. Dining gets you points too btw

If anyone wants a really good read this non fiction about how Steve Wynn lost Mirage resorts and how the strip was shaped is brilliant http://www.amazon.co.uk/Winner-Takes-All-Kerkorian-Lovemann/dp/140130236X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236096520&sr=8-2
