New car tyres

I don't see how a vehicle manufacturer can "plan" for a vehicle to be driven in excess of the British speed limits. Whilst in use on British public roads.
It's nothing to do with the speed but the ability to handle the forces when cornering. A BMW M series is going to be able to take bends a lot faster than a Daewoo Matiz. Therefore it needs a tyre that can handle the lateral forces being exerted on it without losing grip or stability at the speed being driven.0 -

I think you'd have to show me a car driving legally - not dangerously on a UK road wearing V tyres and then show me the same car doing the same thing wearing H, S or T tyres and failing to perform safely. Before you could persuade me that this law is reasonable. Still doesn't address the withdrawal of insurance cover question though.
Been a naughty boy Conor? What was the thread title:rotfl:0 -

...and i think you'll find agrees with what we're saying about putting lower speed rated tyres on your car. Higher isn't an issue
If you reread the thread then you'll find i said that anyway, it seems in the run of posts that someone lost the plot.
Never mind let those who like to take risks run lower than recommended/original speed rating, should their insurance decide not pay up they will have to instead.0 -
Hi, just to let you know, this week I used http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ and saved myself £50 on two new tyres compared to Kwik-fit. Would highly recommend only drawback you cannot have your tyres fitted the same day.
Excellent site. Have used it before.
Does anyone know of a similar one for exhausts? My back box is blowing...(ooerr missus)0 -
I used these people this week with no problems at all.
I ordered Monday morning and then had them fitted today (Friday am). This may have been a restriction by my chosen fitting centre though.
I selected National Tyres and Autocare in Harrogate, all went smoothly as the tyres had been paid for on my credit card to tyre-shopper and I just had to sign when picking my car up.
I would use again and am recommending to all!I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
Thanks for that - I've bookmarked the page for later use. My tyres are £120.00 each and this site gives a saving of £27.00 per tyre!
Cheers!0
