Yes, but I still do not understand about the line rental warnings.

Agree what you say about 1899 etc but my lot cant remember what day of the week it is, without putting numbers in before they dial.

Anyway not worried about costs ,Im saving money, BUT what about the LINE??????

    Cheers.

BT now charge £11/month but give free 141, 1470, 1471, 1571, Caller Display and Premium Rate number barring.

As a result, at least one re-seller of line rental charges more than BT for line rental with just Caller Display added despite their trumpeted (slightly) lower basic line rental.

If you use/need none of those, much of this 'justification' doesn't apply to you.

As you don't (and won't) use indirect (prefix) call providers like 1899, the fact that your line rental re-seller may bar access also does not affect you.

Nevertheless, an Orchid dialler to 'force' the family to compy with MSE tactics would save you money.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

1899 since June 2004 - no problems at all.

Primus only a month or so - no probems at all (and I doubt whether my first invoice will be for more than a few pence).

That's the beauty of leaving your line rental with BT and 'playing the field' with CPS and/or the likes of 1899 - BT is still there to use (1280 prefix) as a fallback (I still use them for the odd 0870 call at the weekend - when they are cheapest).

Sorry, what do you mean, i know 1899 you have to dial that B4 your number, but the cps one i thought was like just normal dialling  sorry if im sounding thick, im still learning :o yes after all these years ;)

Yes, when you change to a CPS provider for your calls, you just dial as normal and your call is routed from the BT exchange via your chosen provider.

If, however, you want to revert to BT for a call, you dial a prefix of 1280 for that call (similarly to dialling 1899 before a weekday daytime call).
