Are the reductions genuine? Naming and Shaming thread

I'm not so sure about M&S and Next either. Yes there are the genuine reductions but there is also a lot of old toot I've never, ever seen before, (and they don't change their stock that frequently) brought in for the sale. Next are the worst offenders. I'm sure they get some stuff made just for the sale and for the outlets and conversations with the staff have backed that up.
They are probably fulfilling the letter of the law by selling a couple of each item in some back of beyond store for the minimum length of time so it would be a difficult one to prove.0 -
Would like to add PC world to the taking the p*ss sale.
We went into our local store at the huge clearance sales consisted of stock that had been returned, had bits missing or generally broken before you bought them.
Cheers PC World, where would we be without you!
I have not seen one genuine bargain out there, bought a jacked in November for 36 pounds in November, saw it in Debenhams on Boxing Day for 42 quid... and that included a 20% discount!0 -
the only genuine sale items i have bought this year is clothes from asda.....mainly for my two children and i do know these were genuine as ive seen them in the stores the last few months at full price.0

Well I did buy a nice hat in Monsoon yesterday - reduced from £20 to £1. You can't convince me that wasn't genuine! :rotfl:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

When I used to work in Topshop (long time ago!) we used to swap around the stock room with the shopfloor. Any old tat that was in the storeroom was put out on sale racks and much of the good/new stock was put away until the sale was over. Much of it was years old and very cheap and yes people bought it! What wasn't sold was put away for the next sale.0

Hi,
I was in John Lewis in liverpool and saw some nice glasses in the "Clearance Sale".
I looked and they were reduced from £2.50 to £2.40
I decided not to bother...
Cheers,

I agree Next do not have genuine sales all the time, most of it is last seasons clothes and usually only the big sizes are left. And why is it that in sales all the clothes get dropped on the floor and nobody picks them up? Not even the staff pick them up. I will only buy something in a sale, when I am sure the price is right for the item.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230

Cargo shop another one - had 6 plates/bowls etc for sale for £10 before xmas - now on at £2.50 each, minus 20%. You do the maths.
Unless you really only wanted 1 (do people buy crockery singly?), it's definitely more expensive now.
So another non-sale.0 -
I'd knock Next off your genuine list too. Unless they've changed recently.
A friend used to be Saturday staff there. 99% of the Sale stuff was delivered in specially and none of it was stuff they normally sold.0 -
Generally the PC World "sale" of returned/damaged items is a joke. But I bought two 20" monitors in one this week, for my kids, for £69.97 each. Sale or not, I think they were a bargain.Would like to add PC world to the taking the p*ss sale.
