Ok, I'm going to join too!

I'm going to start from this Monday (5th) and not buy any chocolates, crisps, tesco's potato salad or diet coke ... oh dear, I'm gonna die!!!

I have too much of these items and really need to cut down so this will help (I think the DC will be the hardest). But I like the fact that if someone else buys you can sample, sort of a get out of jail free card if it gets too bad :)

So I guess that takes me to the 14th April, wish me luck!

  • OK so I actually think this is the first time I have posted on here, I have been one of those lurkers lol. I am new to posting in forums altogether so please be gentle with me!

This challenge looked like something for me. I am obsessed with cleaning products (and I mean I go loopy down the aisles, have to buy all branded products that match, OH has to literally drag me out lol) and the same with toiletries, although I do get all of these from pound shops etc and the like.

    Therefore I am pledging:

    1. to not buy anymore kitchen cleaners.

    2. to not buy anymore shampoo, conditioner and showergel.

    3. No chippy, chinese, pizza, indian etc etc takeouts!

I have 2 bottles of baby sterilising fluid left from my son that I have been diluting and using in a spray bottle, and various dregs left. I have also been cutting down the amount of washing powder I buy by using half the amount and replacing the rest with value shampoo!! so although I wont be able to not buy washing powder, I will be cutting down on it if that half counts lmao.

I have about 5 bottles of shampoo and 4 bottles of conditioner ( 1 each for me and my 2 daughters and a spare couple of cheapys! ) and about 6 bottles of cheapy showergel.

It is too easy to just pop to the chippy/chinese etc so this will save some pennies!

OK so sorry if that was long and drawn out. Could you please add me to this, and good luck to everyone else xx

Magni you still haven't added me
I'm doing well so far, not bought any take-outs, but son used the money the 'tooth fairy' brought him to go and buy himself a cone of chips for his tea (I had lamb cooking in oven) Ah well it will do for sandwiches today now.

Have just completed a self inflicted financial review and I need to be ruthless with myself so for the remainder of the challenge I will not buy any:

Wii Games (as a family we got 5 for Christmas)
DS Games (OH got 2 for Christmas and 1 in a sale)
    PS2 Games
DVDs (we tend to watch them once and then E-bay them which is ridiculous)
    CDs
Books (will go to library more instead)
    Magazines
Newspapers (will get OH to bring them home from work on the days hes the last person in the office)
Bubble bath (still using up freebies from Avon dating back 2 years)
Moisturisers (for the same reason as bubble bath)

That should do me for a start. I'll be back to add more things I really don't need but buy anyway later.

I thought I was unusual in my stockpiling of toiletries/ cleaning products!! I have used a huge amount up since I moved home and realised the extent of my hoarding (previously I had boxes full stored in three places!).

Two years on I still have two full deodorants left from before, and I have got back into bad habits with at least five different conditioners in the bathroom cupboard. :o I will try to only purchase toiletries or cleaning products that I actually NEED from now on.

Found it difficult today walking around the L'Occitane shop sale looking at the reductions thinking what I would like and realising I will not buy anything due to the committment to this challenge. (Plus I have about a year's worth of L'Occitane stored away).

Was finding it easier up until today, then a bit tempted today as have avoided all of the temptations until now. That'll teach me for now.

Still I am enjoying seeing the products reduce rather than increase and will see if I can sell any surplus on ebay if I decided I will never use them (dingbat fedupskinty for buying them in the first place)

Another day done up to day 34 in total and day 3 with you guys who started on 1/1/09
