kaspersky internet security and f-secure's internet security package both have password protection so that you cannot change the settings unless you have the password.
im sure most other security suites have password protection, but i have used both of the products i mentioned above (with kaspersky being the better one)0 -

Install K9 Web Protection
He will get a cheesy Dog Barking at him if he tries to use any P2P sites. He wont be able to get past it without the password.
Great for web protection for young children but even better for winding up your teenage kids trying to get on Limewire or MSN0 -
Who bought the laptop may I ask? If I were still living at home and we took 10 years off my age then if my parents said you're not using LimeWire I wouldn't use it.
You could always use the good old, 'while you're living under my roof you'll abide by my rules' adage...
I'd consider blocking keywords e.g. limewire or the domain http://www.limewire.com/ within the router's admin page.
Additionally block the limeware ports, as per this page they are 6346 to 6347, TCP, UDP.
You'd also want to change the default admin password for the router so this couldn't be changed.
So whatever they get upto outside of your house is up to them but not under your roof...0 -

Been there, done that, lots of things are easier said than done

Very good points indeed, thanks

Already done, years ago in fact

Agreed, although he is our responsibility. He has been informed that most of the stuff he is doing will undoubtedly be illegal
Have a look at this thread, you may find it hard going at times though, I did... lol

Yeah I read parts of that, all got a little heated and off topic for my liking. Parenting is hard enough without being told how you should do it when you're trying your best.
Of course you could block out all sites (as per the above thread) using certain obscenities...0 -

Typed the word into googled and it returned a black backgroud page saying:Web Site Blocked by NETGEAR Firewall0
