    Leo ~
    We're cool
I just felt I needed to express the fact we're not just here to help 'willy nilly' :p
We're not allowed to talk about P2P on here but I REALLY suggest your son doesnt use Limewire.
WHATEVER he uses, make sure hes well backed up with protection (AVAST that I think Browntoa posted is the best best for free resident scanning software)
And even then i suggest he regularly scans the folder/s he outputs to with MALWAREBYTES as a secondary check.
The problem is, most of these people just want to download, they dont CARE about the security side.... :p

Yea, no problem, cool at this end as well.

Our teen has only just been told in no uncertain terms what limewire is and what it can, and probably will do to his brand new lappy.
He is well aware that help will only be available once, if any problems that he encounters are limewire related.

I am just about to download Avast that Browntoa mentioned to a memory stick, for transfer to the lappy.
I am also aware that I will have to remove Avira first.

You are right about him just wanting to download, he has no idea what he is downloading and as for security? I know that he would say 'what security'?

Anyway, i ll keep everyone posted :)

    never mind
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
  • I was joking Leo. Seriously though, tell your son to get rid of limewire- if he wants to download music and films then he would be better off with utorrent or something

    I ll tell him.......and

    He won't.........because

'all of my mates use it so it must be ok and legal'

in that case, just block limewire.exe from accessing the internet in the firewall :)

    Good point :)

However wherever he goes, his nice new shiny lappy goes with him, so I am fully expecting the 'help' call not to come from whichever room he is in whilst at home...but from whichever of his mates house he is in, when he is out.

It's only a matter of time...........
