padded bras for 7yr olds in BHS

Young girls today are lucky, in my day you did not get a bra until you were at least 14 I had to wear a vest and a liberty bodice and to be honest I was a well developed young girl by the age of 11 and I should imagine the pervs of my day would have got more of a thrill from our unsupported bosoms than if we had been well supported in a bra .
A bra, yes. A padded bra, no.0 -
I know some girls are early developers, but clothes sold by age are normally aimed at children of approximately average size and shape for that age group, and the average 7-year-old does not need a bra. Bras for girls who actually have breasts should be sold by size, not age. My first bra, which I got at about age 10 or 11, was a 30AA and I remember having to shop around to get my size because at the time most of the shops only had 32AA upwards.0

If you need to wear a bra take your daughter to a proper store that will measure them, John Lewis, Bhs and Marks and Spencer seems to be the best. I've seen these type of padded bras everywhere, I noticed Tesco sell them recently. If they are not yet ready for a bra buy them a crop top which is the next best thing and makes them feel better than having to wear a vest, you can find these in lots of stores, Primark, Tesco, M&S, etc, etc. John Lewis start at 28aa but they do not get many in, all stores brands fit differently as well. Marks and Spencer do Angel bras but again 28 is about the smallest they start at. I've also seen padded bras in really wee sizes in M&S but presume they are made for adults who don't have alot up top and want a boost, i don't think they are marketed at kids like the ones in Tesco kids underwear bit.0

I saw the M&S description of the first bra ...

This is for the Angel First Bras from their website:
Soft and comfortable, this Tatty Teddy bra is ideal for everyday wear. Underwiring and padding give an uplifted and enhanced natural shape
so if even the first bra has to lift to give the "natural shape" ...0 -

The Angel bras do not all have padding, I got my daughter some in their final reductions. Thats disappointing they are selling padded Tatty Teddy ones as they all seem to like Tatty Teddy at the moment, will not be buying that!!!0 -
I bought my DD a bra and knickers set from Ethel Austin yesterday, she is 11 and starting to develop. The bra had a very slight amount of padding to it.
When I have bought her normal bra's she complains that they rub her nipples, which are obviously quite tender at this stage. She was over the moon with the new bra because she tells me that doesn't happen, plus if she accidentally bumps her boob it doesn't hurt as much.
Sometimes a small amount of padding can be useful.0 -
my daughter is nearly 10 and wont even look at a bra, not that she needs one just now anyway. why are so many parents so eager to make mini-me's? let them be kids as long as possible! dont they realise how sad it is to see kids dressed like adults with revealing clothes.0

pulliptears - I agree with you, a small amount of padding is fine, my first bra (which I got when I was 10) had a little bit of padding for exactly the reason that you've just said about your DD.
But for places to be selling thongs, fishnets and push-up/over padded bras for children.....thats just wrong! And don't get me started on some of the clothes these shops sell    :mad:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Oh I agree, the only large amount of padding DD has had in her bra was when she came downstairs with half a roll of andrex stuffed into each cup :rotfl:
im lucky I suppose in the fact she wouldn't want anything like thongs etc, she is much like me and prefers daft knickers with funny prints (top shop do a brilliant range of funny knickers - pirates, wonder woman, bambi etc).
She asked for something "playboy" once, and it was explained to her exactly why it wasnt suitable and that was that.
I was still happily playing with Sindy at 11!0
