    Hi everyone
Hope everyone well and still loving this?!! LOL
Lula - can you please adjust my figure to £80.23. I bought 2 new jumpers in Tesco last night - in sale for £10 each and a pair of black trousers for work at £8 (really pleased with them for £8 if anyone needs a pair..LOL - they fit really well). Anyway, had a till spit for £6 off a £40 spend and had some other money from my mum left over, so my own money spent was £19.77 taking me down to £80.23. OMG for nearly TEN WHOLE MONTHS?!!!!!
    Thanks Lula Hula.

I'm so upset for them I've had to buy a 5 pack of dairymilk at £1.00 to stave off the misery :o - gosh dont they slip down the throat with ease :rotfl:

Just popping on to say no more spends for me as yet so still have £71.42 left for the year:eek:

    Mind you £28.58 in 2.5mths isn't too bad :D

Won't buy anything in March but may buy a skirt and top in April if can find anything cheap enough!!! Keep scouring ebay for something for a tenner after I sold dress on for for £12 the other month. Problem is I keep looking at going out dresses and I never go out! Need some weekend wear more as I have 2 tops I wear each weekend and I'm sick to the back teeth of the sight of them now!

    Hello my lovelies :D ,

sorry for another absence, I've been having some trouble with posting but habe been reading all your news & thanks to all for the sympathy for DD1 - I had a text to say that they're now feeling better & that the temp has now reached 31  :) .

Happy new clothes to shopaholiski, Yorkshire chick & Primula - will adjust your spend in a minute.

I did previously post to say thank to Maz for bright & colourful suggestion - it'a very kind thought but I do actualy love to read all the posts ( living vicariously  ) & have already noted NO-BRAINs handbag hiring tip :T
& also Fairy Nuff's make do & mend suggestions. I really wish I lived nearer to you as am keen to do more creative clothing but not sure where to start. There's a sewing machine shop nearby & I'm thinking of wandering in there to price up their old hand driven ones :D . I really need to make some curtains for the living room too... I darent tell you how long I've lived here :o living on the first floor means curtains never seemd a necessity but my creative side is yearning to escape & I keep reading all these blogs & these women have lovely lives where they make pretty things with fabric, paint or draw & sew, grow flowers & food & make fairy cakes .... I want that life too ( just need to find a way of financing it hmmmm let me see lottery win or rich man would do it  )

Right, I must go update your spends - sorry  :D

    bye for now

  • :hello:Hello! I'm not part of this challenge but I've popped in a few times and find it inspirational. I've not spend anything on clothes this year yet, mainly because I've gained weight and absolutely refuse to by new stuff a size bigger - what a waste. So my alternative now is lose weight or become a nudist

Keep up the good work, peeps!

  • I've been a long time lurker of this thread, always admiring how well you are all doing, so I wondering if you'd be able to help me.

I've just had my light bulb moment and realised with great horror that I just don't have a bean to spend on clothes and will have to make do with what I've got.

I love looking nice, as I find if i look great, I feel great and this really helps with my depression.

What I wanted to know was if anyone knew of a website other than a online shopping one were i could look at outfits for inspiation on how to make the best of the clothes I already have?

I was also wondering if any websites existed on how to alter or customise clothes?

    Your help is gratefully appreciated.

Grrrr typical  ok then, but I get second place :D

Thanks Snow White - suggest you move somewhere hot & sunny if going for the second option ;)

Hello Swampmonster & a big welcome to you my lovely  congratulations / commiserations on your lightbulb moment & probably one of these :grouphug: needed too . This whole challenge came about after my secondary light bulb moment. The first lbm was the realisation that I was no longer going to be able to pay the debts off in a couple of months  The second lbm was the realisaton that just byuying cheaper clothes wasnt going to help much either  .

I dont know of any particular websites off the top of my head but I am a fan of the Body Shape Bible which has a section at the back on ideas for alterations. I am now going to have a hunt on the great www for any sites & will report back any finds later.
I do feel for you re the depression; have been an on/off sufferer myself for years & I do agree about feeling good / looking good. Please feel free to pm me if you're having a bad day but dont want to be public about it - dont suffer alone & remember that :A

  • Swampmonster: There's a book called "Yeah I Made it Myself" which I bought a year ago on Amazon. It has dressmaking instructions for people who are too impatient/inexperienced to use proper sewing patterns and want to get started stright away. I haven't made anything yet :o but it's great for inspiration, though not strictly about alterations (unless you count altering a tablecloth into a skirt!).

Swampmonster - I know this isn't really what you asking but it might help. Thinking back, I never really looked after my clothes properly knowing that when they got "shabby" I would just replace them, sometimes, in fact very often, I was just too lazy to bother changing out of my work clothes and would laze around in them or do housework in them and they ended up getting washed a lot more than they really needed to, i.e. trousers getting thrown in the wash after one day on. I'm trying now to change out of my clothes as soon as I come in, hanging up my work stuff. Also the same at weekends, I have two really comfy pairs of jeans which I just love (and loads more which mysteriously seem to have shrunk?? )so I am keeping one for wearing around the house (the shabby ones) and the good ones I am keeping for just wearing out, same with t-shirts. They are staying looking new longer and when I go out, I feel much better with the nicer ones on. Hope this might be some help.
    Good luck.
