  • We are thinking of moving to wannadoo, currently on boltblue £21 month unlimited 512 speed. I know this sounds thick (!) but we got an 18yr old who lives on MSN and his sister who is following hard in his footsteps!! Does the message exchanging on msn get taken into the download limit on these capped deals? If it does we may be better looking for unlimited usage.

    Thanks

After all the excellent advice on this thread I have managed to get my £17.99 reduced to £14.99 for the next 6 months. No contract. I am on the 2 MB speed and had the 2GB cap.

I had to speak to 3 people on the number provided at the beginning of the thread and say I was definitely thinking of leaving. I mentioned cheap deals available on uswitch.com and he offered me the cheaper package straight away. Whole thing took 10 mins.

Its worth checking your telephone line supports 2meg as not all do. My line is 1meg max although my telephone exchange supports 2meg.

I was aware that my first year with Wanadoo BB was up, so just called them and got straight through, asked them to confirm the date I joined, then mentioned I wanted to check I was getting the best deal. Said that if I wanted to leave then would need to speak to customer care. Asked to be put through and was on hold for no more than 1 minute! spoke to a very nice lady who confirmed that I was calling to look for the best deal. Immediately offered to put me on £14.99 for 6 months, with no tie in and free upgrade to 2mb. Though she would have to do this after the call as her system was not working properly! also gave me one month free, so very happy for a 5 minute phone call. Was paying the £17.99 per month. Would have moved to madasafish but mixed reviews about them on the forums and, I've never had any problems with Wanadoo.
  • I would love to get 2meg with Wanadoo but sadly BT won't upgrade my exchange, so I'm paying £17.99 for just 512 service. :(

I phoned them and they offered me the next month free, and then the following 6 months at a reduced rate of £14.99.

Thats pretty good. The lady I dealt with was very helpfull. I initially rang to change because someone is using my email address to spam others, which bounces back to me. They said it was a case of changing my password. I am not so sure it will work.
  • Well shucks!

Having seen this week's mail about broadband i though I'd give wanadoo a call to see if i could upgrade without moving. Sure enough i knocked £17.99 down to £14.99 for six months with no tie-in. Thought I'd finally join these forums and boast of my success only to find that the regulars have known this trick for weeks.

Oh well, chalk up one more success though. I'm particularly chuffed as this is the first time I've had the guts to phone a service proider to demand a cheaper price and it worked like a charm. Look out service providers, here i come! ;-)
  • I am warning everybody to keep away from Wanadoo.

We rely on internet contact with friends and family abroad. Our 18
year old is at university in the USA. It is also vital for my work.

My home broadband connection failed in December so I rang Wanadoo and was promised reconnection by Christmas Eve. By January we were still disconnected. Wanadoo blamed BT. I made over 40 national rate phone calls before Customer Services in India admitted it was Wanadoo's problem all along and that they had done nothing to correct it. I cancelled my subscription.

However the problems continued when I tried to sign up to a new ISP.
Wanadoo refused to give me a MAC code to transfer to another provider and for over a month now they have blocked my BT line so no other broadband supplier can use it.

Wanadoo also sent me a Hotmail message from Customer Services asking me why I was cancelling. I completed the online form and sent it back via the hotlink on the form. Surprise, surprise - it bounced back with "No such address"!

Wanadoo have displayed corporate incompetence, malice and mendacity, and I would advise anybody to avoid them like the plague. I have of course made a formal complaint to Ofcom.

wanadoo is a an amateur isp - as soon as you go over 30gb a month - which most people can do quite easily, they will kick you out. They only want very low users. have a look around at much better deals with higher thresholds
30Gig a month is one gig a day. That's a lot of downloads!

I would personally be happier with an ISP that do not let the people who download 100Gig+ a month take bandwidth away from me.

Just thought I would pick this up again, after my success in January I noticed that I had been charged for my BB, despite being told that I would get one month free! They told me that I would not be charged for the next months bill!! I also queried that I was £14.99 per month for 6 months. Lady on the phone said that £14.99 is only for up to 1meg, true enough their website shows this clearly. So a few people on the forum's have said they have indeed been offered 2meg at £14.99. Anyone actually get this offer then??
