Wanadoo BroadBand

Isn’t it funny what you can get, if you just ask...
I set up my broadband with Wanadoo just over a year ago, which is at 1.1Meg for £17.99. Due to competition, this now seems expensive for the bandwidth of 1.1Meg.
So rang them, spoke to this girl, who seemed quite stupid (!), anyway, I asked why I should stay with them when I can move else where for free and get it cheaper.
She stated I could upgrade to 2meg, by following the simply online process, which made me giggle!! I said, yes but there is £20 charge for an upgrade"
"Yes" she stated.
Again, I stated "But I can leave for free!!"
"Oh, well we can waive the £20 if u have bee with us for a year or more"
Funny how she didn’t mention that first time! Anyway, I got the £20 upgrade for free!!
Moral of the story - its pays to be polite yet forceful!

Did you say you where thinking of leaving?0 -
helen21,
Sadly I dont know her name. I prefer not to deal with her again! lol
She said that the £20 would be waived and said that the £20 will come out with the £17.99 fee, but just send them the bill and it will be returned.
The calls are recoreded so i have come back if its not
She did ring through to another department to make sure the £20 would be waived.0 -
customer service reps at wanadoo technical service are incredibly stupid - they have no technical expertise at all.
wanadoo is a an amateur isp - as soon as you go over 30gb a month - which most people can do quite easily, they will kick you out. They only want very low users. have a look around at much better deals with higher thresholds0 -

Hi Helen
There are a lot of threads regarding NTL customers who managed to get a better package by saying they were leaving.
As a rule they found that if they had facts and figures ie tell them of another supplier that can give you bb at a cheaper rate. I believe Tesco.net have a value package at £13.97 odd so have a look here write down the facts and figures of what you are paying now and the prices of some cheaper suppliers and then just be firm.0 -
Well brill i have just phoned them and give them some facts and figures and they will not lower my rate unless i cancel and re-join
Suppose at the end of the day depends who you get to speak to, every time she opened her mouth she said "i think" i asked if i could speak to someone that new rather than thought and she said no as they wont lower your package0
