Did you apply for a Barclays Monthly Saver in December?

I opened mine at 6% and wasn't told that if I got money in before 31st that I would get 7.75%., which is a bit annoying. They actually suggested that I "wait till the new year to make the 1st payment and that there was no rush".
I was just curious could I just make an opening payment by online transfer (not standing order) today and get 7.75%?0 -
If anyone is going to a branch to get this 7.75%.....
Make sure you get something from the branch, there and then, in writing, and signed, saying you're getting the 7.75%.
They won't be able to weedle out of it later on if you've got that.If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying0 -
Went to 2 different branches today. 1 in central London and another in North London both insist on 6%0

Applied at Barclays in Walton-on-Thames on the 23rd of December, clerk informed me of the 31st December deadline to receive the 7.75% without having to be prompted. Paid in a cheque when opening the account, all went very smoothly. No attempt was made to sell me other products either.0

I just opened it at 7.75% using online banking. I'm a Barclays Premier Banking customer (0800 111 777)
I just read out the statement from Barclays above to them, they went away and checked and said 7.75% was no problem and transferred the opening credit from my current account there and then and set up the Standing Order.0 -
I opened a Barclays Monthly Saver yesterday, thinking the rate was 6%. I was told it would be 7.75% but only if I managed to credit the account before 31st December by standing order. That would be impossible as my current account does not support the faster payments ! At least I have got 6%.
You don't have to make the first payment by SO, you could pay in by cash or cheque."When the Government borrows, the citizen has to save".

I haven't applied for a Monthly Saver but this thread caught my eye...their problems are not limied to this account. I tried to apply for a different account with them in October (e-Savings Reward). Still haven't got the thing and have given up in despair now.
Their Customer Services line have no idea about their accounts, various branches don't understand the opening procedures for anything that's not in-branch, the Savings Centre are uncontactable because no-one know anything about them and don't bother trying to phone up about accounts unless you have over an hour (no exaggeration) to spare to spend on hold to various uninformed people scattered around various countries.0 -
Had to wait 20 minutes to meet with a "financial adviser" took 30 minutes after that for her to log on and process application. She tells me that it is only 6% but if I don't get the 7.75 I will just close it.0

I tried opening an account on new year's eve. It's a hassle as they are not sure if I can credit my cheque today tp qualify. Also, note that they said that a standing order is compulsory so you CANNOT miss a payment on any month of the 12 months period.0

My daughter, an ardent MoneyExpert fan went into the Muswell Hill Branch in London and asked to open an account there - her mortgage is with them also!
She was told she couldn't open it today as she hadn't got an appointment. My daughter quoted the Money Expert newsletter word-for-word but the lady said 'our account is for 6%'. My daughter left, showing her disgust!0
