    please help me !!!!
Hi there, no, you are not on your own, there are quite a few of us here with similar stories. I, like you have been waiting since July and cannot get an answer from anyone as to when the freeze will be lifted if it hasnt already, most of were given some info with an end of October date, but now thats changed to end of November! quite honestly i would love to get a job elswhere now, so have been applying for just about everything, just fed up with waiting:mad:
But you may have a glimmer of hope with that phone call, least they are still looking at your name on their list, well you never know, it happened like that to a few fellow DWP forum members in the last couple of weeks, they had bizzare phone calls to see if they are still interested then they got a start date soon after, so i will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I just meant in relation to you asking if they could do that, its either go along with the change or tell them to beggar off which given the shambles you've put up with I bet you would love to have done, it makes me cross as whether a mistake had been made or not they should have made the decision to live with it or at least offer the chance of a change only if it suited people better. They made the mistake not you and now you are the one whose p'ed off and paying for their c**k up!

When I had the call the lady must of picked up that I was gutted and disappointed. And I must admit I was tempted to say "ah stuff it" but at the end of the day I really need this job.

The lady has sent me an email confirming the changes etc. So I have compiled a reply venting my frustrations and disapointment with the whole process but especially the latest news of location I never listed and having a really good role taken away from me - one which I was really looking forward to starting at.
I have stated that although I am grateful for any role offered to me, is there any chance the N.I post can be revisited first without it effecting my offer of employment with them.

I haven't sent it yet and not sure if I should as I don't want to lose the offer. But on the other hand I don't think it's right what they've done.

Could they get arsy with me if I sent the email and revoke the offer ?

Am sssssooooooooo sick of the DWP recruitment process it seems rather silly to me, i applied for IRC61505 essex area and had my interview on 4th Aug. I passed my interview and got my CRB back on 30th Aug and my pre- recruitment checks were completed by the end of Sept. I have been told the same as every1 else about the recruitment freeze and have sat waiting it out and phoning every couple of weeks to get an update.
On friday however i looked on the DWP website and the are advertising for IRC64225 in the same areas i am waiting for yet i was told they have 127 people on the merit list for this area so why are they still re - advertising if they have sooooooooo many people waitng on the merit list???? I phoned the DWP and asked about this and they said they couldn't explain this they could only tell me that my app had been passed onto the recruitment team for the Essex area on 30-10-09,don't know what took so long to pass it on. Am becoming very disheartened by the whole process now.
Hope others are having more luck.

    Hi Dm,

I posted on the other thread....I rang the DWP and asked how they can be advertising for more staff in Essex, when I have been told I have passed everything and am yet still only 97th on the merit list! The guy told me that the jobcentre hope to post everyone who has passed all the checks etc and that the new advert is for positions they foresee early in the new year! Very very disheartened.......

Also a lurker for some time but just noticed DMWright you have applied for the same IRC as me, 61505 so thought i'd say hello. I have been told I am joint 28th on the merit list but other than that I probably won't hear anything until end of Nov. Just as frustrated as you to then see EO and AO posts offered for the JCs i've applied for. I am out of work and very keen to start but can't afford to keep waiting too long..... Keep everything crossed it won't be too long!

    Hi Margie,

Like DM, I too applied for that reference, so thought i would say hello! Well done for being 28th.....as you will see im 97th....which is also probably the age i will be before i get offered a position...lol

I can't tell you 100% but its a Department that encourages people to speak up, the trouble is you could get an arsey individual who takes the law into their own hands and throws a strop as if its their own business or something.

Personally I would send it. Stick up for yourself, it can only help them improve the process for others and you never know you might get what you want! What I would say is send it to the person in charge (not the monkey so to speak!) this would probably be the district manager covering Cardiff and presumably the other places you've been offered.

  • Hi All

Had my first day today, which was pretty uneventful, I spent the day shadowing in the lone parent department...It was a bit of an eyeopener!!

I now have a schedule for 3 weeks training offsite, so that should be fun...

There should have been 3 of us starting today but only 2 of us turned up, however they did say that some people have been getting letters at the last minute, not enabling them to give enough notice to their current jobs, one guy got back from a fortnights holiday on a Friday only to find a letter requesting him to start the following Monday....mad..

Fingers crossed for everyone who hasn't heard as yet...Jx

I'll hold off from actually sending the email I've compiled for now. I've sent an email now asking for the head honcho's contact details. I had been corresponding with the Recruitment Manager in Newport so I think I'll send her an email too.

See what happens now. I'll probably get told to hop it knowing my luck !!

    Hello Everyone ,

I have been waiting for what seems an eternity to hear something about my position as an AO iIRC60739 in Nottingham. I got a letter saying that I was successful and would be placed on the waiting list, at the beggining of July about 2 weeks after my tests and interview. After not getting much info out of Newcastle for the past few months, out of the blue, I had an answering machine message from someone from the JCP on Fri 13/11 saying that they needed to talk to me just to see if I was still interested in the position and also to find out my current circumstances. Unable to get through to them on Friday I got through to them this morning, and they asked me those questions. The lady couldn't advise me on where I was on the list, how long it would take for me to get a start date. All she said was that they needed to contact everyone on the list to see who was still interested and also see how many positions that they had available. She said that there wasn't many openings left though.

I really don't know what to think....by now I would have expected to have had a call with a start date. Do you think that I have missed my chance or is this just procedure? Has anyone from Nottingham had any calls recently?

    Please help !!!! :o:o

I had exactly the same phone call (same IRC) last Monday (9/11). It didn't sound too positive with regard to the number of jobs available :(.

I've never stopped applying for other jobs, but no success so far. It's very depressing!
  • Try not to be too downhearted, everyone.

I have been in weekly contact with the Resourcing Dept in Newcastle and Friday last week I received an email back regarding my IRC;-

"Just to confirm all your checks have cleared and now you are just waiting for the jobcentre to call you with a start date."

They are seemingly moving on it all.

To the pesrson who mentioned that they were re-advertising certain IRc's and that he/she hadn't been posting and hadn't been posted yet....I remember some months back someone saying that DWP like to have a block of people on waiting lists to take posts if they need a sudden recruitment burst. Consequently, the fact that they are looking to replenish certain IRC's with new recruits could be construed as a positive thing and that you may well get a call soon. You may well be one of those who will need to be replaced on the list - because you're gonna get placed soon, hence the recruit drive.

    Try and stay positive folks.
