who are you waiting to hear a reply from?
Mine is a different email - its the person dealing with the West Yorkshire IRCs at Newcastle.0 -
Hi guys,
Glad I found this thread! First of all, sorry if I repeat anything else that's already been said, but didnt really fancy browsing through 250+ pages
Anyway, I hope someone can enlighten me...
I applied for an Admin Assistant job at the Derby Job Centre and I got the "congratulations on your success" letter at the end of August (dated 26th). I was over the moon because I've been out of work for over 6 months now  The day after the Bank Holiday Monday I was shocked to find my CRB check waiting for me on the front door mat! Since then, I've heard absolutely NOTHING from them! I really thought I'd be working by now... the people at my local job centre (in loughborough) where I sign on have told me I should prepare myself for a long wait... I'm absolutely gutted. Especially now that the lovely people at my local centre have arranged an interview for me with one of their 'advisers' at the end of Oct. I really don't want to go to that if I don't have to. They seem to take my congratulations letter as a bit of a joke really and told me that I should still be actively seeking work...I'm guessing people have had the same problems as me. Any advice would be gratefully received before I give the employee services a call!

Firstly, congratulations on your successful letter:T
Secondly, sorry but you will still have to attend JCP for the advisors interviews
Did your CRB certificate arrive from DWP? You need to check, as if its been sent direct to you and DWP have not seen it, then you will have to send it to them. DWP normally put a compliments slip in the envelope if it has come from them.
When I have rang them regarding the pre recruitment checks they say these normally take around 20 working days to complete.
If you cannot get hold of them by telephone (which is the norm if you check posts on this thread!!) just email the person who sent you the successful letter for an update.
Some people on here have been waiting a few months for the call, and with the recent activity regarding a possible 'recruitment freeze' everything seemed up in the air. Anyway, a couple of people on here have received calls with start dates over the last week, so there is still hope0 -

thanks for the congrats
Yep my CRB arrived from the DWP and the letter with it says to keep it for "future reference" so I'm presuming they must have seen it for them to send that letter with it. My references were contacted BEFORE I was offered the letter of employment, so I'm wondering what other pre-recruitment checks there could be besides that and the CRB?
It's just so incredibly frustrating to be told you have a job only to hear nothing for such a long time. I understand how people must be feeling. Just hope it gets sorted ASAP so I can tell my local job centre where to stick it! There's irony for you... :rotfl:"you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."0 -
Hey, Filbertchick...i have been out for work for about the same length of time and i have my start date on Monday, someone else on this thread (in an area regarded in the 'freeze') has their start date too....so they are taking people on!! They have to tell you the wait could be ages to cover themselves, i guess. But try not to get too down. I know it's hard when you have been out of work so long, you feel like you may as well stay in your bed for the rest of your life, as no one seems to want to employ you anyway....no?.....just me then? hehe.
I reckon most if not all of the people waiting here will be starting in the next month or so."You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -
:hello:Hey Venus, When you got your call did they phone your mobile or the landline? I am losing it big style started singing abba`s ring ring to my mobile then though argh maybe I should be singing to my landline somebody help me .... :rotfl::rotfl:0

Hi all,
I am new here and have just found this forum. I have pretty much the same timeline as unluckyone, with my IRC being Hyde. I attended Old Trafford on the afternoon of August 19th, passed the tests and got my interview an hour later. When i got my success letter i managed to get through to talk to someone at Newcastle, even though the phone number on my letter just kept saying i had dialled the wrong number. Eventually the person i got put through to told me that i was joint 4th on the merit list, with 3 others. I just cant find the number i rang to check any further, although i feel it woud be a waste of time as they would not give out any more information now.
I have been to sign on today and the guy at the job centre had not heard about a freeze, he had only been there for 2 weeks, after 4 weeks training. He said he had his interview in february so it is a long drawn out process, but to hang on in there as my CRB had come through last week so things were on the move. My CRB was dated 3rd September, but somebody had hand written a 2 before it so it looked like the 23rd, odd i thought.
Anyway, congrats to all of you who now have the start date, good luck with it all, hopefully the rest of us on here will get the magical call sooner or later.0 -

hello unluckier_still,
welcome to the forum!
my assessment centre was 12.15pm start on the 19th, was that you too? you'll know how busy the assessment centre was then. i wonder if we'd recognise each other, small world isn't it.
i had the same thing with the telephone number on the success letter, was it signed jan treleaven? i've emailed her today asking for info, so if i hear from her i shall let you know.
and i also had the same thing with the dated letter that came with my disclosure, someone had handwritten a 2 infront of the 3, probably just a typo error and they couldn't be bothered to re-print it.
so... did you apply for IRC61866, Hyde BDC?
i always speak to kevin at newcastle, he answers pretty much first time every time, but as you say, he says he doesn't know anything, this is his number though for your reference 0191 216 21760 -
Here i am again, i have just managed to speak to a very helpfull person at Newcastle, that has just told me the freeze was lifted on Monday, and the delay now is just the backlog, not being helped by the postal strike.
Also being joint 4th on the list I asked where i was overall, and he said 7th, but the person in 6th has failed the CRB check so i am now 6th as all my checks have come back ok. So my information has been passed on and he said wait for a call from your line manager. So things look like they are moving again WHOOHOO.0 -
