This is stunning. I've managed to be "successful" for another job - not DWP - and my application for that is "on hold" until they can find me a position :D At least the other people had the decency to tell me, though.
  • Hi,

Spoke to a girl in Newcastle DWP about IRC 61737 Glasgow and she said that I was on the 'Merit List', which apparently is a better position to be in than on the 'Waiting List'.

She reckons it will probably be the end of October before I will hear anything.

Although this is not a guarantee of a job, it at least gives me a bit of hope.

Well done to everyone who has got a start date.:T

I have never been able to get through on the number in my success letter, it is either engaged or just rings with no answer

i am nearly 50 and this is first time i been unemployed. nightmare aint it. mind you it has taught me how to be very resourceful and realise how much money i wasted really. have just booked a few days away. we have a motorhome so quite cheap for us to get away. not going far but it will be a break from all the job hunting. not had much chance this summer to get away cos of the finances so sod the money, we are going. :j

Great stuff, enjoy yourselves and yes, sod the money. :D
  • I went to sign on today and my Advisor just laughed when I told him about the "freeze" rigmarole. He said not to be so alarmist (?!!!) and that it took 3 months from his success letter to his start date. He was very positive and didnt even make me do the usual trawl through the website for vacancies. I asked him if he had a "secret" internal phone number to contact so that he cound find out what was happening on my behalf and he said that he did indeed have a number but that he didnt see the point in phoning it as it was obvious to him (alas! not to me) that things were in motion and that I would hear fairly soon. I took this as a positive response and thought that I would pass the info on to everyone.:D

Thanks heather! When i went for my interview with my lone parent advisor she said pretty much the same (altho she advised still looking for other jobs too but i reckon she has to do that to meet her targets etc...the more jobs i show an interest in it goes to her target).....but she reckoned all my local job centres are desperate for staff too. Hopefully this is just a simple case of them sorting out the lists before they go much further, as opposed to them having too much people and not enough jobs. Good luck hun xx

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your email, I am so sorry to hear that you’re going through such a tough time at the moment. I would really appreciate if you get the chance to fill out the questionnaire attached which would help us find out a little more about you.

Then, if this documentary is something that you’d like to hear more about, I can give you a call and we can talk further.

I look forward to hearing from you soon,

    Kate
