DWP employment waiting list

Strange thing is I applied for one of these jobs, got through to the final interview but didn't get it, I now have a new job which I really enjoy, had I been offered the post I might still be unemployed and adding my tuppence worth here.
Ever since a similar experience to the one you are all describing here, I have always carried on looking until I'm actually in situ at the new job - don't trust them~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0 -
Hello,
Im a new girl to the forum.
I recently received notification letter from DWP saying I had been successful for DWP AO job Glasgow (IRC 61737).
They said they were carrying out pre-employment checks and would contact me once they were completed.
I received my Disclosure Scotland form a couple of weeks ago, but to date, the DWP have not contacted my referees.
I called Newcastle today, eventually someone answered and took another note of my referees email addresses. She said it would be unlikely that I would get a start before the end of October.
I got an uneasy feeling about this so I searched the internet and found this forum.
I was dismayed to read the posts on the site and see there are people in the same situation as myself.
I could kick myself as I turned down another job this morning on the strength of the DWP job.
Can anyone give me their take on my situation?
Peace and Love0 -

Hey there - most of us are in a similar situation as yourself. I was interviewed 18 Aug for AO in Dundee. Success letter 20th Aug. Disclosure received this week. Thats it, basically. I think that we are all in for a bit of a wait, to put it mildly. I have started applying for other jobs in the meantime. I also have turned down a couple of positions on the strength of the "success" letter and really regret it now. I know that I havent been waiting for as long as a lot of folk on here - some have been patiently waiting since the spring. The whole thing is a nightmare. Sorry I cant be more positive for you.0 -
Hi there,
I went for my interview at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow on the 10th August. Received my success letter about two weeks after that. The Disclosure Scotland is dated 23rd Aug and I received it the first week in September.0 -

Hello people I know youve all had enough of this waiting but I can assure you sooner or later you will start work but it might take time. Once you do start work like me you'll think all that waiting has been worthwhile. It took me over 2 months after my interview to start cos they do all the checks and then I had to wait for them to give me a call about ma start date. So just hang in there be patient.
Anyway people I am wanting some advice I have started my role about over a week ago but I seem to be struggling due to my physical disability. I was wanting to speak to my manager so he can put me into another role but I havent had the opportunity yet. So I was wondering is this a good idea? Will ma manager be understanding and allow me to carry out another job which I will be able to do more easily? Im a bit scared to talk to him as he might ask me to just carry on with my current role and say nothing can be done about it or it might put me in his bad books. But if I carry on with my current role I wont be able to perform to the correct level due to my disability. Im really confused.0 -

I have been very disappointed with the lack of communication but I can give you an upto answer on this as I have finally managed to get through to the recruitment team! Basically if it's true, they have put recruitment on hold nationally until end of october so I have been told I should receive a call at that time but they couldn't quarantee any of this. So good luck and try to keep positive - let me know if you have a phonecall!
I managed to get a straight answer from them last week about this IRC which I have also been successful for, basically I wouldn't believe a word they say as I have been told something completely different.
What day did u attend your interview??0
