Getting back on track, I'll go for hummus. I've been lazy in the past and bought tubs of ready made hummus. Made my first batch yesterday and I reckon I made double the quantity that I normally buy, for half the price. No more Sainsburys hummus tubs for me!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0

i would have to say that ive never bought grated cheese but may now start looking ta weights/prices next time i shop though.i think the only things i buy for convinience is frozen veg,i do buy fresh regularly but its good to have reserve in the freezer.:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I buy the value grated cheese as it's loads cheaper per kg and i end up grating the blocks anyway. I also buy lazy garlic as we don't use much and i always end up throwing fresh garlic it away.
why dont u buy fresh garlic and puree/blend it and put into ice cube trays and freeze. then u could use as needed and it would last so much longer. could even do it with ginger or even both together!0 -
If it's cheaper and someone else has made the effort for you, why not? For cooking I tend to use ready grated because it's cheaper and why should I wash up more things just to say I grated it myself so I could spend more money? What a stupid thing that would be to do, spend more money so I can grate it and wash up?
Sliced veg, sometimes I do, only if on offer and I can't buy what I need loose as there is only me eats some of the veg, so if it's cheaper and easier, of course I buy it prepared! Frozen veg mainly of course, as then nothing is wasted, it's definately useful for me.
Garlic, I tend to buy the puree as when you work out how much you get from cloves after the waste, what you can't use as it's stuckered to the blender etc, it usually works out good value. One day I might be more organised...........

I love the "lazy garlic" in a jar, it probably is classed as lazy, hence the name but because I don't use garlic at lot, I was throwing it away nearly every week, I know it's not that expensive but every little helps and all that!
I love this too and the lazy ginger. It lasts ages if you keep it in the fridge.
I think it's one of those things that's worth the money.
I would'nt buy grated cheese though.0 -
This has already been said on a thread a while ago; its very much a personal choice whether you buy ready prepared or not. I don't because I have time and the physical capability to do things myself. Others who are not so able - or for other reasons - may find grated cheese, prepared veg etc an absolute godsend and none of us has a right to judge what others do or do not buy.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I've always bought grated mozarella because I've found it easier to use on pizzas but would never buy grated cheddar because I always thought it was more expensive, until today. I'd read on here that it was cheaper so today when I was in Tesco I checked the prices.
Tesco value mild coloured cheddar - £5.13 kg
Tesco value mild grated cheddar - £3.96 kg
As someone has already said I'd rather pay £1.17 kg less for something that someone else has already grated for me!Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Those pots of tuna and mayo sandwich fillers that you find in the chiller cabinet always have me scratching my head
I can't decide if these are lazy or convenient but they're blooming expensive.

I can't believe i've never thought of that!...I even grow my own veg at my allotment but never grow garlic (i should be ashamed of myself)!.....I suppose you would call this my 'garlic lightbulb moment'!
Thank you0
