Urgh. So it begins. Belittling and humiliating me until my position is untenable and I leave. Unfortunately, seeing as they crippled me, I can't leave, so let them do their worst cause I ain't going anywhere. More's the pity.

(((Hugs))) - Hope you're logging all this somewhere for future use - you need to cover yourself by the sound of it. Your manager sounds as if you really need to get her to spell out exactly what she expects you to do - if you start double-checking everything and quantify it with 'just wanted to make 100% sure that was what you wanted me to do - I don't want to get it wrong again (!)' she can't then twist it round to it being your fault (which it sounds like she's trying to do). She can't easily turn round and say different if you've already double-checked with her (and made a note of it). When she gives you stuff to do are there any other witnesses to what she's asking you to do, or is it done quietly/out of general earshot...

Hope tomorrow is better, is there anything you can suggest to her that you can do that wouldn't make your injury worse - I wouldn't have thought she could refuse to let you do that without it looking unreasonable....;)

  • Thanks hun.

I think you're right - I'm already second-guessing everything I do as I'm being so careful not to hand them any ammunition against me. It does make you a bit paranoid as they have a track record for hounding out people who've been on long-term sick, i.e. they'll try to get you on stuff that they could easily get ANYONE on, but blow it all out of proportion and fire you/suspend you for it. Walking on eggshells isn't in it!

I also think there was a touch of panic there as well - she'd asked me to do something that hurt me. I asked for the accident book purely because I was trying to be responsible about it, I wasn't trying to get her in trouble but she seemed to take it as that. I hate the fact that if you try to assert your rights at work you get marked out as a troublemaker.

I am documenting EVERYTHING at the moment, especially the numerous emails I've sent to her asking for things including reasonable adjustments, all of which have been ignored, and asking for her to complete HR functions that she's supposed to do without me reminding her (also ignored). Will definitely start loudly double-checking everything in front of witnesses!!

What a horrible cow. Good job I believe in karma!! She's coming back as a turd.

    Hi HOOS

Iv been sitting here for the best part of 3 hours reading your diary from start to finish. I really feel for you in the work dept, a factory where my mam used to work has a really high rate of cancers but HSE hant investigated it (my mam died of cancer 3 years ago) a lot of employers are really good about sorting things out but its the odd few who get away with it that really p@$$ me off!!!!

I so pleased you gave annoying lodger his notice, i used to house share with 5 other people, and i could only make myself something to eat if i washed the pots and pans as the other little darlings used the whole cupboard full before i got in from work (9pm). Hey ho, needless to say i gave my notice early, even though i lost my bond, i was just so fed up i could have done a murrderrrr (pretend scottish accent!!)

PS you are doing a great job paying off your debts - keep plodding on Miss Head LOL;)

Barrys-lass, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, that's awful. It's hard enough to deal with losing a loved one, but I can't imagine how difficult it must be knowing that it was probably due to corporate negligence. I hope something eventually comes of this, it's a disgrace that in this day employers are still getting away with putting staff at risk like that. I don't know how the bosses of those places sleep at night, they must be made from different stuff than the rest of us?!

As crap as my situation is, I'm one of the fortunate ones as mine will probably get better, there are two people in our place with nerve damage in their necks...that's permanent. One poor girl has to take a cocktail of painkillers and nerve drugs just to get through the day, and they tried to get rid of her as well! Makes me so angry.

I decided that if I win the Euro on Friday (which I plan to do) I will continue going into work purely to be vindictive. I will sit there going "No, sorry, I can't do that!" and make life really difficult for them until they're forced to fire me, then take them to tribunal. I would then give that money to a legal fund for other people to sue them! He he. I can dream.

Hope you do win the Euro, at least you wont have to deal with strange, lazy tenants anymore.

Im just making tea and OH is using the sewing machine to make me a shoe tidy to go on back of wardrobe door....... its soooo strange seeing a big hairy bloke sewing hehe.

As for the factory, last time i was there the bosses were all getting stressed so maybe something is in the process of being done about all the crap that is going on, or maybe the place is going down the pan, which would be a shame coz the lasses that work there really need their jobs (as do the rest of us who are out of work atm)

  • I hope the managers get done if it turns out they were aware of the problem. Too many seem to put productivity above staff welfare.

In our place, managers never seem to get pulled up on anything...sh*t rolls downhill, as they say...

I think they do know, but keep saying it has got nothing to do with the working conditions and the fact they are using old flux and solder which was supposed to be thrown away years ago when the laws changed!!! Its all about saving money!!!!!!!! b@lls!!!!!!

How have you been at work today? and how is the nightmare housemate behaving????

  • I've been off today, as I'm still on phased return. Been feeling a bit down as I'm not looking forward to going into work one little bit. Not heard anything from my union rep yet, but hopefully I'll catch her tomorrow.

Blodger is behaving himself well enough, still incredibly irritating but it doesn't bother me quite so much now that I know he's moving out...

That's horrendous about the factory, !!!!!! are HSE doing??? I mean, it's causing cancer! I was shocked enough that they're ignoring our problem!! The world is a really sh*tty place sometimes. I hope they get nailed to the wall over it.

Me too, i dont see many of the lasses there anymore (i worked there for 5 years) as i dont have my car, but the last i heard there was 2 ppl still working there who are having treatment for breast cancer, 1 who has tumour in her leg, and at least 3 who have sadly died. Its all a load of S$%t if you ask me. The stuff that is being breathed in is awful. I must catch up with the ppl there to see if HSE have been involved.

Its so depressing thinking about it and the ppl who are working their butts off for the pittance in wages they get and they get an awful disease for the pleasure of working there.

On a lighter note, im getting ready to go to CAB tomorrow to get my creditors sorted out, but after reading some posts on here im also thinking about going to CCCS, iv started filling in the online forms (more on my diary bout it) but will spk to CAB tomorrow.

Im probably going to hve to walk from CAB as i think iv only got enough money to get there, and dont get anymore JSA until a week on monday!!! its about 10 miles!!!!! hope it doesnt rain LOL
